Let's play money making game

Feeling: Okay

And I couldn't even play DDR like I wanted to. When I arrived to the arcade they had the volume extremely low, and I couldn't even hear the beat. Apparently, some whiney crybaby in the mall complained about the game being too loud. Well, they're supposed to change the location of the machine and put the volume back up this weekend. Unbelievable, they had this same problem last year, don't they learn?

The GVSU faire really sneaks up on you doesn't it? Especially when they don't update their website in over a year. This weekend is the GVSU Shakespeare Festival in Grand Rapids. I'll be attending as usual.

I'm currently working on a true type font to emulate console game controllers. I should be done in a few days. I have the majority of the characters finished, there are just a few more of the odd ones from strange systems like the Jaguar and the N-Gage.

Like a film that's so bad but I've gotta stay til the end

Feeling: Okay

Today was a nice loooong day at work. I didn't even get anything new accomplished, I just fixed bugs all day. Well, screw updating, I'm off to vent some of this frustration with some good old fashioned DDR. Just like my father used play and my father's father.

Like a bat out of hell
I'll be gone when the morning comes

Feeling: Sleepy

The concert was great. Although I don't know very many Meatloaf songs his amazing stage presence and energy really made the show exciting. He sung all the songs I do know so it was pretty cool. I finally got to bed by 2:00 AM, so I'm nice and chipper this morning.

A humorous coincident occurred at the concert. I grew up in Clarkston, MI and every time I go to a concert in Clarkston I always look around to see if there is anyone attending that I knew back when I lived there. I do this to compare my life to theirs to validate that my years of being a nerd did in fact pay off. This usually works because the people that were jerks in high school are usually picking up garbage now (I'm shallow, sue me). Anyway, at the concert I saw only one person that I knew, and of course, they're not from my home town, but from where I live now.

Some nights you're breathing fire,
and some nights you're carved in ice

Feeling: Okay

My stomach is feeling much better; Tums is my friend. I need to prep myself for the concert I'm going to tonight, Meatloaf at DTE (Pine Knob). I'm going with Heidi to help celebrate her birthday today.

I updated All Things Halloween with a page on bats and another book review.

You know you have odd taste when your amazon recommended items are The Peter Rabbit Treasury, Alien Versus Predator, and Religious Traditions of the World. Do you see the connection there? Neither do I.

My stomach turns and I exhale

Feeling: Sick

The weekend was a lot of fun. I got to see Kimberly and we went on a ten mile bike ride. I hadn't ridden a bike in about twelve years, so there was a bit to remember. I'm still sore from it. On Sunday we played DDR for a couple hours. It was a very active weekend and I think I made myself sick from what I ate on the ride home. It was either the hot dog, the pickled sausage, or the flamin' hot Cheetos, all of which are yummy health foods but I have a terrible stomach ache right now for some reason.

It's come to my attention that people have become more annoying on the road recently and it all stems from those really stupid vehicle ribbons. Nobody cares if you want a "more than friends" relationship with the United States. Pretty much everybody, whether they're for or against the war, doesn't want our troops to get killed. Putting a magnet on your car isn't helping in the slightest. And just for the record, ribbons are supposed to be placed loop-side up. These aren't Jesus fish people. The fact that you don't even know how to properly put them on your Hummer H2 is proof that you don't have a clue what you're supporting, and therefore should not have a political voice. What annoys me most of all is that people seem to think it's okay to start creating their own new ribbons. These ribbons with crosses and hearts in them are perverting the original message, and I don't seem to recall a camouflage ribbon before the fad started. What we need is a ribbon for the anti-ribbon cause! Next we talk about why those colored bracelets are dumb.

It's been almost two months since my last Ask A Guru answer. This is because I am still working on my Ask A Guru book, and my gurus have become tired from working overtime on it. The book is still a few months away, but to tide you over I had them throw a few quick answers down.

This week's spotlighted item is the very first album I ever bought for myself. It's Queen's freaking sweet album Sheer Heart Attack. It's also probably my favorite album Queen ever released. Bow for lo, be ye not worthy mortals.

I will let you down, I will make you hurt

Feeling: Blah

It's raining today. A nice way to start autumn I suppose. I love the overcast weather, but cold rain is naughty.

I added two more pictures of myself from back in July.

There's also a new Say NO image. Now we get to say no to those dirty hippies that stink like patchouli.

My sorrow is real even though I can't change my plans

Feeling: Gloomy

I made vermicelli last night. It was pretty good, I think I'm finally getting the sauce/noodle ratio right.

There is a music review for the classic thrash metal group Metallica.

There's also a new Say NO image. This time I rag on politics.

I picked up my Roland MT-32 synthesizer today which is groovy. I still need to get the proper cables to hook it up, and then the actual knowledge to use it.

The leaves are changing, the nights are getting longer, and it's getting colder. Autumn, sweet autumn, it will be here tomorrow at 5:23 PM EST.

Every time I pin down what I think I want it slips away

Feeling: Blah

DDR is a great way to take out aggression, but when you go several weeks without playing and then try to play for several hours your body cries like a sissy.

I've updated the Videogame Music Preservation Foundation with the ripped music of Amberstar. No Vorbis until I get the instrument definitions. Although, I should be receiving my Roland MT-32 synthesizer today, and then I can start properly recording more songs.

I've added a game review for Garou: Mark of the Wolves, one of the best 2D fighters.

Boys don't cry

Feeling: Blah

On Friday I spent a tiny amount of time playing DDR, and a lot of time hanging out at Nathan's where we watched Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which was great, and played plenty of emulated 2D fighters (I still got it). Saturday was, well, it was a difficult day.

On Sunday I went shopping for some new clothes and groceries then I hacked some more games. While digging through the binary data of the game "A Train" I came across an error message that reads "offset f*cked bad seek (paste your name here) error updating database". I was surprised to see the f-word in game as old as A Train. Now-a-days it wouldn't cause much of a scandal, the censors aren't as tight. Example: I just watched a friend play Punisher on X-Box where he used a drill press on a bad guy's face.

I added ten more facts about me.

Today is National Separation Between Church and State Day!

Feeling: Sleepy

Thank the DDR gods, the machine is back up and running. Sweat baby sweat.

Also, our fearless leader (whom I didn't vote for) has declared today National Prayer Day. So all you atheists, agnostics, and various other secular people get to be mocked by a government that doesn't care about your voice. Hurray for democracy!

I've added 108 free fonts to All Things Halloween. All of which are Halloween themed of course.

My two shipments have arrived. My Betty Crocker's Cookbook, which feature hundreds of recipes, but more importantly, tip on how to cook, an the Alanis Morissette album, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. Only waiting on my Roland MT-32 now.

I'm not wearing a sweater, but if I were, it would be on properly

Feeling: Sleepy

Back when I was playing DDR on a daily basis I was taking out a lot of energy and frustrations that allowed me to sleep better at night. Without DDR I'm staying up later and having trouble sleeping and feeling tired more often. But lo, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The arcade finally got off their bums and fixed my pretty pretty machine! I can play DDR again, hurrah!

All Things Halloween has once again been updated with more wallpaper and links.

I've added a new band review for Azure Ray.

I was backing up my site today and I noticed that the Videogame Music Preservation Foundation takes up over half the total size of my site. I've been updating my site for years, but the the VGMPF is only a couple month old, and already it's larger than all the other stuff. Nice. Just some odd trivia for you.

For those of you who are interested in typefaces, the site will let you run a search based on how a font looks and tell you what it is. So if you were ever reading a book, and wanted to know the font, you can find it out from this site.

You took a long hard look at my ass
And then played golf for a while

Feeling: Okay

I've added the NES port of Top Gun to the Videogame Music Preservation Foundation. That site is almost a full gigabyte already. It's amazing how much space music takes up, even when compressed. Luckily, I'm sporting a 200 GB hard drive.

I added some more desktop wallpapers and jack o'lantern pictures to All Things Halloween. It's getting awfully close to autumn (11 PM on the 22nd), and only 46 days until Halloween!

I put the latest version of the Bionic Commando Editor online. The new version has a full palette editor and a basic decompiler.

I've updated my wishlist with a mess of new stuffage (and removed one thing). My desires are out pacing my income.

And I'll come running, just to do it again

Feeling: Sleepy

I added some desktop wallpapers to All Things Halloween.

There is a new game review for Castle of the Winds, an old Windows 3.1 dungeon crawl that I am fond of.

My Ultima Encyclopedia is getting a bunch of links because it mentions Katrina. Although, the Katrina of Ultima is not exactly the same as the hurricane.

I miss DDR. I can feel my legs atrophying.

'Cos everybody hates a tourist

Feeling: Sleepy

I spent the weekend with Amber. We did plenty of shopping for her new apartment, and I also picked up a cool looking crow's feathered wreath for Halloween.

You would think by now that I would have learned not to ingest caffeine before going to bed, but being stupid, I drank a liter of Cherry Coke on my way home. So, I went to bed at 3:15 AM, and then finally fell asleep around 6:00 AM, giving me 2 solid hours of sleep before I awoke, fresh as a daisy, at 8:00 AM. My eye's still sting, but on the plus side I had enough time to finish the palette editor in my Bionic Commando Editor.

Over the weekend I finally won my eBay item. I won a Roland MT-32 synthesizer for $42. This will help the Videogame Music Preservation Foundation because I'll be able to record the music exactly as it should sound.

There are a few new things over at All Things Halloween including a retro McDonalds commercial.

Laugh along even though they're laughing at you

Feeling: Okay

I've added two new graphic images to the art page, Sun and Space.

When you have a minute check out It's an online atlas that uses google maps to display satellite photos, internet cams, and various other interesting views of the Earth.

My web tracker program is coming along nicely, I'll have it online soon. I'm quite happy that I decided to create it because I've found a large quantity of invalid graphic links that I had in my HTML that normal logs wouldn't show me. All of the bugged pages have been fixed so far.

This is how I type sometimes. Yes, I've actually bled from my keyboard.

The righteous?!

Feeling: Okay

Last night I had one of those "my life is a failure because I'm not successful and rich" feelings. Although it's certainly not a failure, I would really like to get off my butt and actually make something that doesn't involve someone else's work. I'm going to really crack down on my Ask A Guru book and try to get it ready for publishing. Usually these moods last a few hours, sometimes even a few days. Let's see how long I can keep it up.

I'm writing a program to parse my web server logs because I couldn't find a decent one that I liked. After writing some queries, I've found that the 4th largest site that links to me is a major porn site. How cool is that?

Also, while looking through my logs, I noticed a major scripting error that caused every page on my site that used the default style sheet to load the main page's images, even though they aren't used. By removing this I should speed up the page loads as well as remove undo http requests to my server.

I want to lock it all up in my pocket, it's my bar of chocolate

Feeling: Sleepy

I was heating up some stuffed shells in my oven last night, so I set the timer on my microwave for 40 minutes like the instructions said, then I went to work on my computer. It seemed like about 40 minutes had past, so I went to the microwave to check the time. Oddly enough, the microwave was completely off, even the LCD. I pushed a few buttons and realized that the entire microwave was extremely hot. It seems I hit cook instead of timer! So my microwave ran for 40 minutes with nothing in it! Luckily, it had an internal thermometer and it shut itself off before melting down. It still works just fine, phew!

I dodged another financial bullet when someone out bid me of that ebay item from Great Britain. From now on, I make sure to check the exchange rate.

I finished reading the Douglas Adams book "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" last night. I really wasn't that impressed by it. Although it had it's humorous moments, the bulk of the book wasn't really that interesting and a fair amount of it was difficult to follow.

I ordered the newest edition of the Betty Crocker cookbook today. I doubt I'll use it that much, but I'd like to get some better culinary skills than what I currently have.

I'm a Nintendo super player!

Feeling: Drained

Cedar Point was awesome, except for the bloody nose that my girlfriend gave me. I went with Amber and Megan and we had a blast. We rode the all the cool rides (excluding Top Thrill Dragster, which was broken down, big surprise). This was the first time I rode Millennium Force at night which was pretty cool. I also played some DDR at the arcade, and I was the best in the building for the time I was there. I rule.

I spent a good deal of time this weekend working on my Bionic Commando Editor. I've listed out most of the enemy pointers. The real beauty comes from my new built-in decompiler. It is a lot more powerful than before and it has allowed me to figure out plenty more code.

I added a quick review for Castlevania 1: Simon's Quest and Castlevania 3 to the game reviews page.

Today I accidentally placed a bid on ebay for an a item from the UK. I'm really hoping that I will lose because otherwise I'll be paying about $100 for an item I didn't want to spend more than $50 on. Stupid dollar to pound ratio.

August's entries are now in the old news section.

Motherbrain doesn't like missiles

Feeling: Excited

Okay, my new web sever is officially online. Clap hands, squeal with glee, everyone is impressed! Of course, you probably won't notice anything different, but still it's cool. Now that the machine is fully mine I have the ability to add all sorts of goodies that I didn't have the space for before. Don't expect anything too impressive, because I'm lazy, but there is a possibility.

I added the game Metroid for the NES to the Videogame Music Preservation Foundation.

Cedar Point this this weekend! w00t!

This title intentionally left blank

Feeling: Excited

I loaded Windows 2003 Web Sever Edition, all the board drivers, and various other essential things. Today I'll finished loading any and all necessary programs and begin the transfer of the web site. I might have her online today.

I'm also trying to plan out this Cedar Point trip for this Sunday. My girlfriend went and moved to a different, and better, location. Her good fortune is causing me more work. The nerve of some people!

There are two new videogame fonts, Arcade Classic and Robotron.

I added more screenshots and a new composer to the Videogame Music Preservation Foundation.
