Welcome to the most complete Section Z page on the Internet!
This Web site contains spoilers for this game, so if you want to be properly surprised, play the game first and then come back.
Section Z is an old side-scrolling shoot-em-up game published by Capcom on July 1st, 1987. It was originally an arcade game with the same name, but when the NES came out Capcom thankfully decided to port this game over.
In Section Z you play one of the first heroes in video game history, Captain Commando! You blast your way through several sections of a huge space structure. It has many similarities to most standard shoot-em-ups except for one
major difference. At the end of each section are two transporters that will take you to a different section. This helps to make the game much less linear than others, but also a bit more confusing.
Section Z is the type of game that people either like or hate. There is a learning curve to the game that impatient players usually don't get past. The major factor in the game is the maze-like sections. If you just want your basic
side-scrolling shoot-em-up go play Lifeforce or Gradius. The transporters and hidden rooms of Section Z can be very frustrating to a new player. However, if you take the time to figure the game out you will most likely enjoy it.
