Adams is one of my favorite authors. I had heard about his work several times as a child, and even listened to the beginning of an audio book recording of ''[[So Long, and Thanks For All the Fish]]'' which my mother had rented on cassette back in the 1980s (though I didn't know who it was at the time). However, my first formal introduction with his work was shortly after he died when I bought a compilation of the ''Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'' books, and read [[The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy|the first book]]. I've since read most of his books, dozens of his articles, listened to several of his radio programs, and failed to beat any of his computer games. | Adams is one of my favorite authors. Adams is one of my favorite authors. I had heard about his work several times as a child, and even listened to the beginning of an audio book recording of So Long, and Thanks For All the Fish which my mother had rented on cassette back in the 1980s (though I didn't know who it was at the time). However, my first formal introduction with his work was shortly after he died when I bought a compilation of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books, and read the first book. I've since read most of his books, dozens of his articles, listened to several of his radio programs, and failed to beat any of his computer games.
I really admire Adams's humor and appreciate his disdain for bureaucracy. I think his best fiction book is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and his best non-fiction is Last Chance to See.
