Elementary-Volume 6 is a compilation video game developed and published by MECC for the Apple II in 1980. The product contains several educational minigames, most of which were already published prior and just received a little polish. Each of the games appears to have been written in the BASIC respective to each port's platform, though, probably with some assembly routines for the graphics. Later releases for other computer platforms were titled Expeditions and only had three of the five games in this compilation, but they were higher quality.
The five games in compilation include:
Title | Notes |
---|---|
Oregon | This is the 1980 version, an updated version of the 1971 original. |
Furs | A port of Fur Trader. |
Voyageur | A game which plays similar to Oregon, only you play as Indians paddling up the Pigeon River. |
Nomad | Teaches street map-reading. |
Sumer | A version of Hamurabi. |
Personal
Own? | No. |
---|---|
Won? | See individual game pages. |
After beating all of the games in Expeditions, I was curious to see what the earlier Apple II port looked like. The weaker graphics and unrealized game play left me unimpressed, but it was still fun to learn more about early educational software on the platform.
