Escape Game is a passive puzzle video game developed and published by Gamedesign as a browser game in December 2007. As the title suggests, it is an escape game. The game was programmed in Flash and was released as freeware.

In the game, you play as someone who has accidentally locked themselves in their rather austere office and can't remember how to get out. This must happen a lot because they purposely left behind a variety of clues which allows escape for anyone clever enough to find them.

Personal

Own?No. The game was never sold.
Won?Yes.

After enjoying other games by Gamedesign, I tried other titles on their web site. I played this one, and, after scratching my head for a while, finally beat it. After discovering Flashpoint, I played it again to create this review. It appears the game was modified after it was released because the original version has a slightly different solution to a puzzle which lets you bypass something.

Good

  • The puzzle with the balls is particularly devious. It kept me scratching my head for some time, and, while difficult, isn't entirely unfair. You know something is amiss from the fact that you find too many balls.
  • The ending sequence is quite enjoyable. It plays nice music while showing you different views of the room, and I like how it tells you how much time you wasted playing.

Bad

  • Although the art style is fine, some of the graphics are a bit lazy. For example, the duck statues have poor aliasing and reflection, the doormat changes color depending on your perspective, the ball on the coat rack remains visible after you've taken it, etc.

Ugly

  • Nothing.
