When this album came out, I remember seeing the music video of Bring Me to Life on MTV and a friend of mine liking the song and referring to it as "elvish-metal." I wasn't a fan at first because I really didn't like the screamcore elements of the song, but, after listening to a couple of the other songs on the album, and finding Amy Lee super sexy, I eventually bought it. I listened to it many times and, while I like the album, it's pretty homogeneous. All of the songs are Lee's vocals in classical style with distorted guitars and drums. The only variety is the occasional piano for the slower songs.
Because of the popularity of this album, as well as the number of friends I had who loved it (and a few who hated it), this song always reminds me of the early 2000s.
