Half-Life 2: Lost Coast is an add-on level for Half-Life 2 in the Half-Life series. It was developed and published by Valve and released for Windows in 2005. The level was originally meant to be included in Highway 17 portion of Half-Life 2, but was scrapped during production, and later revamped to showcase several of the new (at the time) features that were being developed in the Source Engine which would be included in the soon-to-be-released Half-Life 2: Episode One. The game is built using the Source Engine.

You play Gordon Freeman who must climb up the side of a coastal cliff to an old church where the Combine has built an artillery launcher. You must knock it out of commission, but it's defended by soldiers and head crabs.

I received this game as a gift from my friend Cody who bought me a complete package of all the Half-Life 2 games, to which I am very grateful.

Status

I own this game and have beaten it.

Review

  • Overall: 6/10
  • Best Version: Windows

Good

  • The various improvements to the engine are pretty awesome.
  • The developer's commentary is really cool, I wish more games did this.
  • The level is fun and challenging.

Bad

  • The game is very short, what with being simply an add-on.

Ugly

  • Nothing.
