Hot Space
Hot Space is the tenth studio album by Queen released on 1982-05-21 and produced by Queen, Arif Mardin, Reinhold Mack, and David Bowie. The album is once again a large change from previous albums progressive rock albums employing disco, funk, rhythm and blues, dance, and pop genres. This made the album less popular with fans of the band's earlier style, but introduced a whole new set of fans to Queen.
When I first bought this album, I was a bit torn on it. Before buying it, I only knew Under Pressure which I loved and Body Language, which I dislike. I enjoyed some of the heavier upbeat songs that were new to me like Staying Power and Dancer, but the new style took awhile to appreciate. However, after listening to the album several times, the songs and their style began to grow on me.
Overall, this is a strong album for Freddie Mercury and John Deacon, but pretty weak for Brian May and Roger Taylor.
