* It would be nice if they created a "proper" way to play each mission where everything was scripted by a human including the placement of weapons, items, and special zombies. Obviously, this would get old quick, so the Director would be the more desired play mode for veterans, but a fully scripted game could lead to a more terrifying first experience.

Left 4 Dead 2 is a cooperative first-person shooter zombie apocalypse game developed and published by Valve and released for Windows and Xbox 360 on 2009-11-17, then ported to several other platforms. You control one of four survivors who have been stranded during the zombie apocalypse and must try to get to safety. In addition to a wide assortment of guns, you can also use melee weapons like baseball bats and chainsaws, as well as explosives like pipe bombs and Molotov cocktails. You also can heal wounds with first aid kits, pain pills, and adrenaline shots. While most of the zombies in the game are pretty brainless, there are a set of special infected, each with unique controls, which are particularly deadly. The game has many different modes which alter the game like playing as the zombies, trying to hold out in a base, or adjusting how frequently you encounter the more deadly zombies.

— This section contains spoilers! —

Good

  • The game's art style and graphic display is gritty and dark, which enhances the game a lot.
  • Several interesting locales are created in detail making the game very interesting to play.
  • Despite being relatively random, the game's AI Director dynamically alters the object layout to make it more interesting.
  • The voice acting is really great, and the various dialogue options add life to the characters.
  • The wide variety of weapons allows for plenty of custom play options.
  • The many different modes give a lot more life to the game.
  • Valve continued to update the game with bug fixes and new content for years after its release.

Bad

  • The bots for other characters is pretty poor, and they often take a long time to do what a real player would do immediately like shoot a zombie off you when you're down or jump over an obstacle. This makes it difficult to play the game solo, especially on some stages.
  • It would be nice if they created a "proper" way to play each mission where everything was scripted by a human including the placement of weapons, items, and special zombies. Obviously, this would get old quick, so the Director would be the more desired play mode for veterans, but a fully scripted game could lead to a more terrifying first experience.

Ugly

  • Nothing.
