Lindsay Ellis in 2020.

Lindsay Carole Ellis is a film critic, film educator, and author. From 2008 to 2014, Ellis made videos under the name "The Nostalgia Chick" and reviewed films that were often ignored by male YouTube reviewers. Later, she worked for PBS Digital Studios. In 2014, she expanded into her own brand where she covers films, tropes, and production companies in depth, describing their history, how they fit into the culture, how they succeeded, and where they went wrong, all while using sacrasm and deadpan humor.

As is typical with most women on the Internet, especially those who venture into political content, Ellis has frequently been the target of many harassment campaigns as well as having received death threats and rape threats.

Personal

I learned about Lindsay Ellis in the late 2000s. I think the first video of hers I saw was her review of Disney's Pocahontas. I loved her comedic style and snark and watched all of her videos. I don't remember seeing much of her work in the 2010s, but, when her Lindsay Ellis channel started coming up in my feed, I began watching her new style of videos and liking them as well. Each time horrible people attack her online, I become more and more impressed by her resilience and courage.
