I eat so much candy I don't understand how I'm not diabetic. Anyway, here is a list of candies I have eaten and my opinion of them all.

Candy Bars and Chocolates
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
3 Musketeers | USA | Chocolate nougat coated in chocolate. Nice and fluffy, but a bit boring. Originally sold with three bars: chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, but only chocolate remains. I wish I could buy it in three flavors because I've never had them. |
100 Grand | USA | Caramel-coated in puffed rice all coated in chocolate. The puffed rice adds a nice crispiness making an otherwise boring candy enjoyable. |
Almond Joy | USA | Sweetened coconut with whole almonds and coated in chocolate. Very good, nice crunch from the almonds. Better than Mounds. |
Andes Mints | USA | Layered milk chocolate and mint. Nice flavor. |
Baby Ruth | USA | Chocolate nougat surrounded by peanuts in caramel, all coated in chocolate. Fairly good, but I prefer a Pay Day. |
Bounty | The Netherlands | Sweetened coconut in milk chocolate. Basically Mounds, but with milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate. I like Mounds more. |
Bun | USA | A soft patty coated in chocolate with nuts. Centers include maple, caramel, and vanilla. Far too sweet. |
Butterfinger | USA | Crispy peanut butter and honey center coated in chocolate. I used to love it but they switched the formula in 2019 and gave it a stronger roasted flavor, but it now has an almost burnt bitterness to it which I don't like as much. |
Cadbury Mini Eggs | USA | Milk chocolate "eggs" with a thin candy shell. The candy coating has an interesting egg-like crackly texture, but neither it nor the chocolate taste all that good. |
Carlos V | Mexico | Solid milk chocolate bar. Really good smooth chocolate like Dove. One of the best. |
Chocoball - Pineapple | Japan | Small balls of biscuit coated in candy. The pineapple flavor is very accurate. |
Chunky | USA | Peanuts and raisins in a thick square chocolate bar. Hard to break, the raisins hurt the flavor. |
Daim | Sweden | Chocolate covered almond toffee. Very delicious, similar to a Heath bar. |
de la Rosa - Mazapán Original | Mexico | Powdered peanuts and sugar flattened into a disc. Kind of dry and boring. |
Dove Milk Chocolate | USA | Milk chocolate with a nice smooth texture. Very good. |
Dumle Snacks - Original | Finland | Milk chocolate and crispy rice with a soft toffee filling. Delicious. |
Ferrero Rocher | Italy | A roasted hazelnut surrounded by soft chocolate, encapsulated by a thin wafer, and all enveloped in hard milk chocolate and chopped hazelnuts. Quite delicious. Flavors include milk chocolate, coconut, and dark chocolate. |
Goo Goo Cluster | USA | An overly-sweet patty of marshmallow nougat with caramel and peanuts enclosed in chocolate. Varieties are original, pecan, and peanut butter. The peanut butter replaces the nougat with sweetened peanut butter. Not a big fan of any of them. |
Hawaiian Sun - Kona Krunch | USA, Hawaii | A macadamia nut and puffed rice covered in milk chocolate. Decent, but nothing special. |
Heath | USA | English toffee with chopped almonds throughout, coated in chocolate. Really good, delicious toffee flavor and enjoyable crunch. |
Hershey's Kisses | USA | Small pyramid-shaped chocolates wrapped in foil. Pretty boring, but various forms have been made including almond, mint, cherry, and white-chocolate "Hugs." |
Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme | USA | White chocolate bar with chocolate cookie bits. Not very good. |
Hershey's Gold | USA | Peanut butter flavored candy bar with a few bits of peanut and pretzels. I don't care for the flavor, and there isn't enough pretzels. |
Hershey's Milk Chocolate | USA | A simple milk chocolate bar. Too sweet, poor texture. |
Hershey's Symphony | USA | A milk chocolate bar with chopped almonds and toffee chips. Very good. |
Kex - Choklad | Sweden | Layered crispy wafers covered in milk chocolate. Kind of like a KitKat, but in one giant bar. |
Kinder Chocolate | Italy | Milk chocolate with sweet milk filling and a little Aryan boy on the cover. Kind of Nazi-looking, but extremely good. |
KitKat | USA | A wafer bar coated in chocolate. Good flavor, nice crunch. |
Krispy | USA | Flat milk chocolate bar with crispy rice inside. Not as good as a Nestlé Crunch bar. |
Lindt - Hazlenut | Switzerland | A large milk chocolate bar with chopped roasted hazelnuts. Very tasty. |
M&M's | USA | Candy-coated milk chocolate bites. The original is plain chocolate, but various fillings have been tried over the years. My favorites are: peanut, mint, crispy, pretzel, almond, peanut butter, plain, and hazelnut spread. |
Marabou | Sweden | Creamier than American chocolate. Flavors include milk chocolate with nuts and without. |
Milky Way | USA | Nougat and soft caramel covered in chocolate. Used to be my favorite chocolate bar, but now I find it to be a bit too sweet. |
Milky Way Caramel | USA | Soft caramel covered in chocolate. Too much caramel, not enough anything else. |
Milky Way Midnight | USA | White nougat and caramel covered in dark chocolate. My favorite chocolate bar. |
Mounds | USA | Sweetened coconut coated in dark chocolate. Pretty good, but not as good as Almond Joy. |
Mr. Goodbar | USA | Hershey's milk chocolate with peanuts. Better than the plain chocolate bar, but not amazing. |
Nestlé Crunch | USA | Flat milk chocolate bar with crispy rice inside. Pretty good and better than Krispy. |
PayDay | USA | Peanut butter nougat coated with caramel, and a thick layer of salted peanuts. Really good. Better than a Baby Ruth. |
Plopp | Sweden | Milk chocolate bar filled with gooey toffee. Quite good, if you can get past the name. |
Reese's Peanut Butter Cup | USA | Sweetened peanut butter in a flat chocolate cup. Too sweet and oily. |
Ritter Sport - Butter Biscuit | Germany | Tea biscuit coated in milk chocolate. Crunchy, but not much flavor. |
Ritter Sport - Corn Flakes | Germany | Milk chocolate bar with cornflakes. They add crunch, but the flavor isn't great. |
Ritter Sport - Hazelnut | Germany | Chocolate bar with lots of whole hazelnuts. Sold in milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Good flavor and crunch. |
Ritter Sport - Marzipan | Germany | Dark chocolate bar with marzipan filling. A bitter and unappealing combination. |
Ritter Sport - Milk Chocolate | Germany | Basic milk chocolate bar. Slightly different flavor and texture from American chocolate. |
Ritter Sport - Praline | Germany | Milk chocolate bar with praline filling. Quite delicious. |
Robin Eggs | USA | Whoppers with a thin candy shell. I prefer regular Whoppers, the candy coating only adds sugar and decreases the maltose flavor. |
Rolo | USA | Chocolate cylinder filled with caramel. Bland and too sweet. |
Skor | USA | Thin toffee coated in chocolate. Pretty good, but Heath is better. |
Special Dark | USA | A dark chocolate bar. Slightly bitter, better than Hershey's milk chocolate. |
Snickers | USA | A nougat bar topped with caramel and peanuts, coated in chocolate. Very enjoyable. Growing up, I preferred Milky Way, but now I like Snickers more. |
Snickers Almond | USA | Snickers but with almond pieces instead of peanuts which gives it a more unique flavor. This is my favorite Snickers. |
Snickers Crisper | USA | Snickers but with rice crisps added. I like this more than regular Snickers. |
Snickers Peanut Butter | USA | Snickers but with the peanuts replaced with a layer of sweet peanut butter. I prefer regular Snickers. |
Take 5 | USA | Pretzels and peanut butter below peanuts and caramel, all coated in chocolate. Pretty good, and the pretzels are a nice change up. |
Toblerone | Switzerland | Prism-shaped chocolate triangles. Contains chopped almond and nougat bits. Not very good. |
Twix | USA | Cookie bar with a topping, and then coated in chocolate. Most common is caramel. Peanut butter used to be very popular when I was a child, but I don't see it anymore. Pretty good. |
Whitman's Sampler | USA | A mix of various chocolate candies. Flavors include: chocolate whip, fruit & nut caramel, caramel, dark maple fudge, chocolate truffle, toffee (kind of burnt taste), cherry cordial, dark chocolate covered almonds, cashew cluster, chocolate covered peanuts, coconut, dark molasses chew, pecan & walnut cluster, and messenger boy (plain milk chocolate). |
Whoppers | USA | Malted milk balls coated in artificial chocolate. Lovely crunch, delicious flavor. |
Zero | USA | Caramel, peanut, and almond nougat covered in white chocolate. I don't care much for white chocolate, and the almond tastes more like extract than actual nuts. Not a fan. |
Caramels and Toffees
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
Bonds of London Assorted Toffee Whirls | England | Toffee swirled with a creme filling. Very sweet, but a little bland. |
Bonds of London Clotted Cream Fudge | England | Kind of like a clumpy version of American caramel. Good flavor, not as chewy as I'd like. |
Charleston Chew | USA | Taffy-like nougat coated in chocolate. Nougats include chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Not that great. |
Kraft Caramels | USA | Clumpy bland caramels. Not a fan. |
Milanówek Milky Cream Fudge | Poland | Clumpy bland caramel. |
Milk Duds | USA | Chocolate covered caramel lumps. Kind of bland. |
Milk Maid Royals | USA | Various flavors wrapped in a caramel tube. It's been a long time since I've had them, but I remember loving them. |
Riesen | Germany | A chocolate caramel coated in dark chocolate. Not too sweet, and very delicious. |
Slo Poke | USA | Chewy caramel. Better than most American caramels like pasty Sugar Babies or the grainy Kraft caramel. |
Sugar Babies | USA | Bean-sized caramels with a firm exterior. Pretty bland and grainy. |
Sugar Daddy | USA | Hard caramel on a stick. The caramel is good, but I would like it more without the stick. I always end up eating a bit of paper trying to get the caramel off. |
Tootsie Roll | USA | A chewy chocolate caramel. Simple, old fashioned, and delicious. |
Walker's Original Toffee | England | Very hard chewy toffee. Tastes like a Werther's, but slightly chewy, very nice. |
Werther's Original | Germany | Hard butter toffees. Very enjoyable. |
Gum
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
Altoids Gum | England | Small rounded-square gum with thin hard-candy shells sold in a small tin. Flavors include peppermint, cinnamon, wintergreen, spearmint, sour apple, and sour cherry. I've only had the peppermint which was okay, and the sour cherry, which I don't remember liking. |
Bazooka Joe Bubble Gum | USA | A small rectangular piece of bubble gum wrapped with a tiny comic strip. When I was a kid the flavors included bubble gum, cherry, grape, and apple, but now only bubble gum flavor is sold. The gum also had groves on one side, but there were eliminated in the remake, and the gum was slightly smaller. All versions of the gum lost its flavor pretty quickly and was exceptionally hard. A special soft version was released. When I was in grade school, they redid the comics and character designs. I didn't care much for the later designs. The comic strips had a gag, a fortune, and a item that you could get by mailing in comics and money. |
Beemans | USA | Wintergreen flavored gum. Current style is pretty awful. Originally contained pepsin to control digestion, but no longer does. |
Big League Chew | USA | Shredded bubblegum in a pouch to resemble chewing tobacco. I like the idea, the flavors are usually great, and the gum stays soft for a long time. My favorite flavors include bubblegum, grape, strawberry. I remember having a sour apple flavored, but it was too sour to appreciate. |
Big Red | USA | A strong cinnamon flavor. My favorite cinnamon gum. |
Black Jack | USA | A licorice flavored gum. Nice at first, but nauseates me after chewing for awhile. |
Bubble Puck | USA | Sold in a black plastic "hokey puck" container, it was a solid block of low-quality pink bubble gum. I remember buying this as a child and thinking it was really cool. |
Bubble Tape | USA | Six feet of bubble gum stored in a plastic dispenser. Originally it came in a simple capped cylinder, but later versions had a built in slices. A lot of flavors were made, but my favorites were grape, bubblegum, and strawberry. A Juicy Fruit flavor was made, but the texture was too different from the original for me to find it appealing. I once put an entire bubblegum flavored Bubble Tape roll in my mouth all at once just to see if it was possible. It took awhile, and a lot of drool, but I did it. A short-lived 10 foot long Mega Roll was made which used slightly thinner and narrower gum. |
Chiclets | USA | A rounded-square chewing gum with a thin hard candy shell. Flavors include peppermint and fruit. I liked their shape and packaging, but they lost their flavor very quickly. It stopped being sold in the USA some time ago, but could be imported from Mexico. In 2016 it was discontinued world wide. |
Clove | USA | Clove-flavored gum. Used to have a stronger flavor, but it's become weaker these days. |
Cry Baby | USA | Gumball with a citric acid coating to make them sour. Loses flavor and sourness extremely fast. |
Doublemint | USA | Peppermint gum. Good flavor, long lasting. |
Extra Cinnamon | USA | Decent cinnamon flavor, but not as good as Big Red. |
Extra Classic Bubble | USA | Classic bubble gum flavor. Good for bubble blowing. |
Extra Polar Ice | USA | A strong wintergreen mint flavor. Very refreshing. |
Fruit Stripe | USA | Extremely sweet striped chewing gum sticks. Great flavor for a few seconds before it loses its flavor. |
Fruit Stripe Bubble Gum | USA | Extremely sweet striped bubble gum sticks. Great flavor for a few seconds before it loses its flavor. Slightly better for blowing bubbles. |
Gum Cigarettes | USA | Bubblegum wrapped in a paper to look like a cigarette in a box that used cigarette-like graphics. Even had powdered sugar you could blow out to make it look like smoke (though this only worked once). Hard bland gum. A great way to convince children that smoking is cool. |
Gum Cigars | USA | Bubblegum shaped like a cigar with a cigar label and individually wrapped. Decent gum, multiple flavors, not exactly kid-friendly. |
Juicy Fruit | USA | A mildly spicy fruit flavor a mix between banana and jackfruit. Delicious. |
Juicy Fruit Collisions | USA | A combination of two fruit flavors. I've had tropical/berry and strawberry/watermelon. Both are tasty, but the texture is poorer than normal Wrigley's gum. |
Rain-Blo | USA | Multi-flavored gumballs. Usually lose their flavor and become hard very quickly. |
Wrigley's Spearmint | USA | Spearmint flavored gum. Very tasty. Wrigley's started adding green food coloring in the 2000s which actually made it slightly less appealing to me. |
Super Bubble | USA | Wax paper wrapped plain pink bubble gum. Good flavor for a very short time before it becomes bland and hard. |
Gummy / Chewy
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
Abba-Zaba | USA | Simple taffy with a "mystery" flavor. Nice taste and taffy texture, but it would be nice if they had more than one flavor. |
Ahlgrens Bilar - Original | Sweden | Sweet marshmallow cars with a hint fruit flavor. There are three flavors, but I can't identify any of them. The texture is unique. They're airy, so they collapse from a bite, but then they become rather dense. It's not unpleasant, but unique. Flavors are pink, green, white. |
Albanese Gummi Bears | USA | My favorite brand for gummy. Softer than most competitors with a large variety of flavors, including: grape, blue raspberry, pineapple, pink grapefruit, green apple, watermelon, lime, strawberry, cherry, lemon, mango, and orange. |
Banana Skids | Sweden | Banana and toffee flavored hard taffy. A good combination of flavors. |
Black Forest Gummy Bears | USA | Better than Harbio, but not as good as Albanese. |
Bonds of London Fruit Pastilles | London | Gummy candies coated in sugar. Basically, firm gumdrops, but made with real fruit juice. Better than most American gumdrops. |
Candy Corn | USA | A chewy sugary candy shaped in a corn kernel-shaped pyramid, with orange, yellow, and white coloring. Pretty bland. |
Cherri and Bubb | USA | Mike and Ike style candy with just cherry and bubble gum flavors. It was nice to have bubble gum, but cherry already existed in the original Mike and Ike, so it was redundant. |
Spangler Marshmallow Circus Peanuts | USA | Bright orange marshmallow candies shaped like large peanuts. Nicely chewy, but extremely sweet with a hint of citrus flavor. |
Crows | USA | Licorice flavored dots. Gross, unless you like licorice. |
Dots | USA | Chewy gumdrops without any sugar coating. Flavors, in order of appreciation are: strawberry, cherry, lime, lemon, and orange. |
Drumstick Squashies - Sour Cherry & Apple | London | A hybrid of marshmallow and gummy. Good flavor and texture. Goofy name. They're not drumstick shaped, instead, they look like school erasers. |
Fruit Salad | Spain | Same texture and packaging as Star Burst, even to the point of using a tear drop, but only one flavor, a swirl of pineapple and raspberry. Sweet and chewy, but almost medicinal in taste. |
Gimbal's Gourmet Jelly Beans | USA | Used to be a good replacement for Jelly Belly, but they changed their formula in 2020 and ruined the texture. Eats more like a cheap generic jelly bean now. |
Good & Fruity | USA | Like Good & Plenty, only with cherry flavored candy in the center instead of licorice, and a different flavored coating based on the color. Original flavors were raspberry, cherry, lime, lemon, and orange. In 1992, the center candy was changed to match the exterior color. The candy frequently goes out of production. It was brought back in 2008 with raspberry replaced with blue raspberry. |
Good & Plenty | USA | Pink and white candy-coated licorice cylinders. Gross. |
Haribo Gold-Bears | Germany | Gummy bears that are a bit bland and hard. I prefer Blackforest. |
Hello Kitty Strawberry Marshmallow | Japan | Mild strawberry flavored marshmallow wit ha small amount of strawberry spread inside each one. Not too bad. |
Hi-Chew | Japan | A chewy candy of assorted flavors. It uses real fruit so the tastes are much more accurate compared to American candy. My favorite flavors are grape (especially good!), apple, strawberry, açai, kiwi, and mango. Uses foil wrappers for longer freshness. |
Hi-Chew Plus Fruit | Japan | Includes fruit pulp in the candy. Flavors are mango/pineapple and cranberry/grape. |
Hi-Chew Sours | Japan | Not sour at all, just citrusy. Flavors are lime, grapefruit, and lemon. |
Hot Tamales | USA | Mike and Ike style candy, but all cinnamon. Nice flavor, decent heat, but gets boring with just one flavor. |
Jelly Belly | USA | Jelly beans with dozens of flavors, many of which taste shockingly like their analog. I love these, but they're very expensive. |
Jolly Joes | USA | Mike and Ike style candy of all grape. Gets boring fast. |
Jolly Rancher Gummies | USA | Gummy Jolly Ranchers. Slightly waxy exterior. Flavors include green apple, watermelon, blue raspberry, grape, and cherry. |
Jolly Rancher Misfits | USA | Gummy candies with two flavors in each piece. Flavors include green apple/cherry, blue raspberry/watermelon, and strawberry/lemon. Candy uses proper Jolly Rancher flavors, and I like the gummy texture, but I would prefer if the flavors were separate. |
Jujubes | USA | Semi-hard chewy candies in small cylinders. Flavors include (in order of appreciation): raspberry, lime, grape, lemon, orange. Usually too hard to enjoy. |
Jujyfruits | USA | Semi-hard chewy candies in fruit shapes. Flavors include (in order of appreciation): raspberry, lime, lemon, orange, and anise. I like the idea, but I usually find they're too hard to appreciate because they get stuck in your teeth. |
Kasugai Gummy Candy | Japan | |
Laffy Taffy | USA | Taffy in assorted flavors with lame jokes on the wrappers. The taffy has a good texture, and most of the flavors are good. Although a lot of flavors have been made over the years, you usually only see strawberry and banana. The cheap packaging causes the taffy to harden after a couple days. |
Lem and Mel | USA | Mike and Ike style candy consisting of just lemon and watermelon flavors. The watermelon was a nice addition, but lemon was in the original, so it's redundant. |
Asia Trans - Li Hing Mui Rainbow Belts | USA, Hawaii | Chewy rainbow strips flavored with Chinese li hing mui plums. A mix of sweet, salty, and fruity. Enjoyable to eat. |
Lunch Buddies Fruit Flavored Snacks | USA | Generic fruit snacks. Decent texture, little flavor, fruit shape doesn't always match flavor. Flavors include: cherry, grape, apple, strawberry, lime, orange. |
Mamba | Germany | Fruit chews. Not as waxy as Starburst, but my assorted bag was almost entirely orange flavor and didn't have a single cherry flavor. Flavors include raspberry, strawberry, orange, and lemon. |
Mary Jane | USA | Peanut and molasses chews. Very good. |
Mike and Ike | USA | Barrel-shaped candies with a chewy center and semi-hard shell. Flavors are: cherry, lime, orange, and lemon. |
Mike and Ike - Mega Mix | USA | Mike and Ike with 10 fruit flavors including: Caribbean punch, strawberry-banana, paradise punch, grape soda, kiwi banana, mango delight, watermelon, pineapple banana, peach berry, and blue raspberry. Far more enjoyable than the regular mix. |
Mentos Mint | Netherlands | Hard candy shell with a chewy center with a peppermint flavor. I like the texture, but the same flavor gets old fast. |
Mentos Fruit | Netherlands | Hard candy shell with a chewy center with three fruit flavors, strawberry, orange, and lemon. There is little variety as two of the flavors are citrus, and they seem to have far more strawberry. |
Mott's Fruit Flavored Snacks | USA | Good texture, but very little flavor, they're just sweet. There are only 3 flavors: apple, pear, and sweet potato, and five shapes: grape, strawberry, apple, carrot, pear. |
Nerds - Big Chewy | USA | Chewy centers with a crunchy candy shell. A little tart, but otherwise bland, and I'm pretty sure this candy existed before and just now has a new branding. The bag I bought had a lot of orange and a little grape. Flavors are grape, strawberry, orange, and lemon. |
Nordic Sweets Soft Raspberries | Sweden | Raspberry gumdrops. They are bouncier than American gumdrops and require more pressure to chew through. Good highly-sweet raspberry flavor. |
Now and Later Shell Shocked | USA | Puts a smooth hard shell on Now and Laters and sold unwrapped in a bag of assorted flavors. Kind of nice because they don't dry out as badly as ordinary Now and Laters, but they're also considerably softer which takes away some of the fun of the candy. I don't care much for them, but I like the favorite in the following order: cherry, grape, apple, banana, and strawberry (which tastes strange). |
Original Gummi Fun Mix | Spain | An assortment of gummy bears, worms, cherries, sharks, and Swirlz (large swirled gumdrops). Seems like a collection of the stuff that fell off the machine rather than a purposely made mix. The assortment claim 18 varieties, but they're including different flavors. The "worms" are so short they're more like maggots. The bears and worms aren't very good, but the sharks and drops are nice. |
Panditas | Mexico | Gummy pandas. Too hard, not enough flavor or variety. Flavors are strawberry, lime, orange, and pineapple. |
Puchao | Japan | Puchao are multi-textured chewy candies of assorted flavors. The fruit flavors are grape, mango, strawberry, and cantaloupe. The pop flavors are cola and Ramune which have little pockets of fizzy powder in them. The Ramune flavor is spot on, while the cola flavor is a bit bitter.. |
Rowntree's Fruit Gems | UK | Firm fruit gummies with a small amount of real fruit flavor. Flavors are grape, lime, strawberry, lemon, and orange. |
Skalle Skum - Cool Hallon | Sweden | Sour raspberry gummy skull and crossbones. Good flavor, nice and chewy. |
Skittles | USA | Small chewy candies with a thin hard shell. Flavors are cherry, grape, sour apple, lemon, and orange. |
Skittles - Brightside | USA | Flavors are paradise punch, pink lemonade, watermelon, kiwi banana, and tangerine. |
Skittles - Darkside | USA | Flavors are forbidden fruit, black berry, midnight lime, dark berry, blood orange. |
Skittles - Dips | USA | Same flavors as original Skittles, but with a yogurt coating. The crumbly texture of the yogurt is a little off, and the sweetness of the candy clashes with the yogurt, but it does add a nice creaminess to the flavor. |
Skittles - Wild Berry | USA | Flavors are wild cherry, melon berry, berry punch, raspberry, and strawberry. |
Skittles - Wild Berry - Gummy | USA | Same flavors as Wild Berry, but as gummies without a candy shell. Has an oily texture. |
Sour Patch Kids | USA | Gummy kid-shaped candies coated in sugar and citric acid. Flavors are blue raspberry, raspberry, lime, lemon, and orange. |
Spice Drops | USA | Gumdrops with spice and mint flavors. Different per manufacturer, but the usual flavors include cinnamon (red), wintergreen (green), clove (yellow), peppermint (white), orange (orange), and anise (purple). |
Spree (Chewy) | USA | A chewy version of the normal candy. I like these slightly better than the hard ones. |
Sweet Tarts (Chewy) | USA | Round flat discs, much larger than a regular Sweet Tart, but with an added chewiness. I prefer these over the original. |
Sweet Tarts - Mini Chewy | USA | Nice texture, but they don't taste all that great. More sour than flavor. Seems like there are more yellow and orange than any other color. |
Sweet Tarts - Soft & Chewy Ropes | USA | The cherry punch straw is decent, but the cream inside is awful. |
Tootsie Fruit Chews | USA | Chewy Tootsie Roll-shaped fruit candies with a harder shell in the flavors of lemon, lime, cherry, orange, and blue raspberry. They're the same artificial flavors as fruity Tootsie Roll candies. Enjoyable, but a little waxy. |
Tootsie Fruit Chews Rolls | USA | Same consistency as a Tootsie Roll, but with alternate flavors. My favorite flavors in order of best to worst are vanilla, cherry, lime, orange, and lemon. I especially like mixing vanilla with orange or cherry. |
Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers Minis | Germany | Bland, not very sour, only 3 flavors and they all taste similar. |
Trolli Sour Brite Eggs | Germany | Rubbery texture, not sour at all, only 3 flavors and they all taste similar, nice color fade though. |
Turkish Taffy | USA | Taffy so hard you can shatter it, Flavors include chocolate (great cocoa taste), vanilla, strawberry, and banana. I haven't had banana, but I love all the flavors I've tasted. |
Twizzlers | USA | Bland waxy flavor. Original is strawberry, but they make other flavors. |
Twizzlers Pull 'n' Peel | USA | Fun to eat at first, chewy, but not much flavor. Green apple: decent, cherry: acceptable, watermelon: bland. |
Vimto Mini Fizzy Pencils | England | I like the Vimto flavor, but the strawberry cream filling is awful. |
Welch's Fruit Snacks | USA | |
White Rabbit | USA, Hawaii | Milk-flavored taffy. A bit bland. |
Wiley Wallaby | USA | Chewy strawberry flavored licorice-shaped candy. Decent flavor, good chew. |
Hard Candies
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
Altoids Candy Sours | England | Small hard candy sour drops of various fruit flavors sold in a circular tin. Flavors include: citrus, apple, raspberry, tangerine, mango, and passion fruit. I've only tasted a couple; they were okay. |
Atomic Fireball | USA | A hot cinnamon jawbreaker. Too hot to be enjoyable. |
Blow Pop | USA | Hard candy shell with bubblegum center. I love these. My favorite flavors are: cherry, blue raspberry, grape, watermelon, strawberry, apple. |
Bonds of London Barley Sugar | England | A sweet hard candy from the UK that's very familiar tasting, but still unique. |
Bonds of London Rhubarb & Custard | England | Hard candy with a mildly tart flavor. Pretty good, and, thankfully, doesn't taste much like real rhubarb. |
Boston Baked Beans | USA | Candy coated peanuts. I used to like them a lot as a child, but now I find they have an almost papery flavor. |
Brach's Butterscotch Discs | USA | Enjoyable Buttery flavor and nice hard candy. What's not to love? |
Brach's Cinnamon Discs | USA | Strong cinnamon flavor, nice hard candy. Simple but delicious. |
Brach's Root Beer Barrels | USA | The flavor is a bit off, bu they're still enjoyable. |
Candy Buttons | USA | Small candy blobs adhered to a sheet of paper. Despite their colors, they're often the same bland flavor. You usually end up eating a fair amount of paper trying to eat the buttons. |
Candy Cigarettes | USA | Long cigarette-shaped white candy rods. Bland flavor, but the cigarette packaging helped children believe smoking was cool. |
Charms Mini Pops | USA | Pretty awful suckers. They all have a strange chemical flavor. The bag advertises 12 flavors, but the vast majority are of only 6 flavors. Of them, the only one I like is fruit punch. |
Dum Dums | USA | Small lollypops with a large variety of flavors. I used to like them more as a child, but now I find them to have a rather odd after taste. My favorite flavor is cream soda. |
Harry Potter Candy | England | |
Howe - French Burnt Peanuts | USA | Peanuts with a red candy coating. Kind of bland and chewy. |
Jaw Busters | USA | A grape-sized multi-layered hard spherical candy. Kind of bland, but they last a long time. |
Jolly Rancher | USA | Hard candy with a variety of flavors, most of which are delicious. Sold in a variety of shapes including long flat sticks, short flat sticks, smaller rectangular drops, and suckers. I prefer the smaller rectangular drops. |
Kabang | USA | Basically Zotz but more bitter. So-called "energy" candy because it has vitamins and ginseng. Didn't give me energy. Flavors include cherry and grape. |
Lemonhead | USA | A hard lemon candy spheres with a slightly chewy coating. Sold individually as grape-sized candies and in a box with smaller chick pea-sized candies. Later flavors include Grapeheads, Cherryheads, Appleheads, and Orangeheads. |
Li Hing Mui Drops | Taiwan | Hard candy with a golden plum pit inside. Nice sickly sweet flavor, and the plum pit is certainly interesting, but makes it harder to eat. |
LifeSavers | USA | Small torus-shaped hard candies. I enjoy most of the flavors. My favorite fruit flavors are: cherry, blackberry, pineapple, watermelon, and orange (they've changed over the years, and I don't remember how much I liked the older flavors). I really like the butter rum flavor which is butterscotch with a hint of rum. |
Necco Wafers | England | Candy wafers of assorted flavors in a roll. My favorite flavors are: clove (purple), wintergreen (pink), cinnamon (white), chocolate (brown), lime (green), lemon (yellow), orange (orange), and licorice (black). You can also buy an all-chocolate roll. |
Nerds | USA | Sugar crystals coated in a colorful candy shell. Originally sold in a box with two compartments, each with a different flavor. Over the years, many different flavors have been made, but they're generally sold now with just grape and strawberry. I liked these as a child, but now I find them to be too sweet. |
Nerds Rope | USA | Just Nerds stuck onto some taffy. It's fine, I guess, but not worth in increased price tag. |
Pez | USA | Pressed powered sugar tablets meant to be put into cheap plastic dispensers. Even as a child, I found the dispensers only get in the way of eating the candy. The flavors are mild, but not unpleasant. In order: raspberry, lemon, strawberry, orange, and sugar cookie. |
Pop Rocks | USA | Candy crystal with cavities filled with slightly pressurized carbon dioxide. When the shell weakens, from coming into contact with saliva, the gas escapes with a small pop which creates a tingling sensation in your mouth. There are various flavors. While I like the idea of the candy, it's too expensive for the small amount you get in each pack. |
Rain-Blo Pops | USA | Cheap knock-off of Blow Pops, but with worse flavors and less gum. |
Red Hots | USA | Small hard cinnamon candies. Just enough cinnamon to become hot, but not so much to burn like Atomic Fireballs. Very enjoyable. |
Rellerindos | Mexico | Tamarind hard candy with a chewy center. Quite tart and slightly spicy. Good flavor, but the candy is a bit gritty. |
Ribbon Candy | USA | Hard candy with colorful bands folded into ribbons. Usually with spice and mint flavors. I love these around Christmas time. |
Spree | USA | A disc-shaped candy with a bright glossy coating. Similar to a Sweet Tart, only more intense. Flavors are (in order of my favorite to least): cherry, grape, sour apple, lemon, and orange. |
Sweet Tarts | USA | Powered sugar hardened into discs. Flavors include fruit punch (blue), cherry, grape, sour apple, orange, and lemon. |
Sweet Tarts - Conversation Hearts | USA | Sweet Tarts in the shape of hearts. With very short messages on them like "KISS ME" or "XOXO". Same flavor and texture as regular Sweet Tarts, except no orange (even though the packaging depicts orange. |
Tic-Tac Fruit Adventure | Italy | Assorted fruit-flavored Tic-Tacs. Favorite order is cherry, passion fruit, orange, and apple. |
Tootsie Pop | USA | |
Zotz | Italy | Hard candy with a sour fizzy powder inside. It's a strange, but not unpleasant feeling. Comes in various flavors. |
Mints
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
Altoids | England | A small, but powerful mint with a circular tablet shape and sold in a tin. I find these to be too strong and cause me mild nausea. Other flavors include cinnamon, wintergreen, and spearmint, which I don't find to be as strong. Rarer flavors that I haven't tried include ginger, licorice, creme de menthe, and cool honey. |
Rito - Wintergreen | Canada | Pink wintergreen mints. I love the flavor, but they're a bit harder than they need to be. |
Starbrite Peppermint Discs | USA | Basically a candy cane in disc form. Boring and too strong a flavor. Gives me nausea after only a couple. |
Starbrite Spearmint Discs | USA | A spearmint-flavored disc. Fairly boring, but better than the peppermint. |
Junior Mints | USA | Small chocolate discs with a gooey peppermint filling. Quite good, but not as good as a York Peppermint Pattie. |
Life Savers Mints | USA | Various mint flavors in Life Savers form. My favorites are orange mint, wint-o-green, pep-o-mint, and sweet mint. |
Mentos Mint | Netherlands | Good texture, nice minty flavor. |
Red Bird Peppermint Candy Puffs | USA | A crunchy mint that easily falls apart when you chew it and has a mild peppermint flavor. I love these because, unlike most peppermint candies, they're not overpowering. |
Tic-Tac Mints | Italy | Various flavors of mint in tiny candies. My favorite flavors are wintergreen, orange, cinnamon, and fresh mint. |
York Peppermint Pattie | USA | A peppermint patty coated with dark chocolate. Very enjoyable and good texture. |
Powders
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
Fun Dip | USA | Flavored powered sugar with citric acid (similar to Pixy Stix) in little pouches to be eaten with the included candy sticks which are also powered sugar pressed into a long tablet. You lick the stick to get it wet, dip it in the powder which sticks to the wet stick, and then eat the powder off the stick. Originally called Lik-M-Aid until 1989 and sold with four flavors: cherry, grape, lime, and orange. Now, there are all sorts of flavors. |
Pixy Stix | USA | Flavored powered sugar and citric acid in a paper straw. Not much flavor, but fun to eat by emptying the powder and sucking it up through the straw. Several flavors have been made over the years. When I was a kid my favorite flavors in order were punch (blue), cherry, grape, lime, and orange. Now, packages are sold with only four flavors: punch, cherry, strawberry, and orange. The powder is very similar to Fun Dip, and the flavors are very similar to Sweet Tarts. |
