Candy Bars and Chocolates
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
3 Musketeers | USA | Chocolate nougat coated in chocolate. Nice and fluffy, but a bit boring. Originally sold with three bars: chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, but only chocolate remains. I wish I could buy it in three flavors because I've never had them. |
100 Grand | USA | Caramel-coated in puffed rice all coated in chocolate. The puffed rice adds a nice crispiness making an otherwise boring candy enjoyable. |
Alfie - Milk & Strawberry | Thailand | Candy bar with crispies in it, half strawberry, half milk. Strange texture that leaves an odd film in your mouth. |
Almond Joy | USA | Sweetened coconut with whole almonds and coated in chocolate. Very good, nice crunch from the almonds. Better than Mounds. |
Andes Mints | USA | Layered milk chocolate and mint. Nice flavor. |
Baby Ruth | USA | A bar of nougat topped with caramel and covered in peanuts, all coated in milk chocolate. Fairly good, but I prefer a Pay Day. |
Bounty | The Netherlands | Sweetened coconut in milk chocolate. Basically Mounds, but with milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate. I like Mounds more. |
Bun | USA | A soft patty coated in chocolate with nuts. Flavors include: maple, caramel, and vanilla. Far too sweet. |
Butterfinger | USA | Crispy peanut butter and honey center coated in chocolate. I used to love it but they switched the formula in 2019 and gave it a stronger roasted flavor, but it now has an almost burnt bitterness to it which I don't like as much. |
Cadbury Mini Eggs | USA | Milk chocolate "eggs" with a thin candy shell. The candy coating has an interesting egg-like crackly texture, but neither it nor the chocolate taste all that good. |
Caramel Smooth | Milky way knock-off from Meijer. Has a more mealy flavor. | |
Caramello | USA | Milk chocolate bar with pockets of soft caramel. Extremely sweet, with a strange taste. Ghirardelli Squares with caramel are much better. |
Carlos V | Mexico | Solid milk chocolate bar. Really good smooth chocolate like Dove. One of the best. |
Charles Chocolates - Nuggle | Trinidad and Tobago | A bar of nougat covered in peanuts and a little caramel, all coated in milk chocolate. Very similar to a Baby Ruth, but with less caramel. |
Charles Chocolates - Ping Pong | Trinidad and Tobago | Milk chocolate covered peanuts. Not bad. |
Chocoball - Pineapple | Japan | Small balls of biscuit coated in candy. The pineapple flavor is very accurate. |
Chocolate Fish | Australia | Cherry fish-shaped soft marshmallow coated in dark chocolate. It's okay. |
Chunky | USA | Peanuts and raisins in a thick square chocolate bar. Hard to break, the raisins hurt the flavor. |
Corona - Crispy Chocolate | Egypt | A milk chocolate bar with rice crispies in it. It's okay, but the chocolate is only so-so. |
Daim | Sweden | Chocolate covered almond toffee. Very delicious, similar to a Heath bar. |
de la Rosa - Mazapán Original | Mexico | Powdered peanuts and sugar flattened into a disc. Kind of dry and boring. |
de la Rosa - Nugs | Mexico | Milk chocolate bar with peanuts and caramel. Strange flavor, but good. |
Dove Milk Chocolate | USA | Milk chocolate with a nice smooth texture. Very good. |
Drops Nazaré - Torrão Nougat | Portugal | Chopped peanuts molded into a bar with caramelized sugar. Gives it a burnt flavor which is bitter, but not awful. |
Dumle Snacks - Original | Finland | Milk chocolate and crispy rice with a soft toffee filling. Delicious. |
E. Wedel - Jedyna - Czekolada Wyborowa | Poland | A bar of dark chocolate. As bitter as you'd expect. |
Erdnuss-Schoko - Corny Big | Germany | A cereal bar consisting of peanuts, corn flakes, oats, and, I think, millet, all with a milk chocolate base. Reminds me more of a breakfast bar than a candy. |
Ferrero Rocher | Italy | A roasted hazelnut surrounded by soft chocolate, encapsulated by a thin wafer, and all enveloped in hard milk chocolate and chopped hazelnuts. Quite delicious. Flavors include milk chocolate, coconut, and dark chocolate. |
Fredrick's - Key Lime Cordials | USA, Michigan | A green candy ball with a hollow chocolate center, filled with key lime cordial. Quite good. |
Ghirardelli Squares | USA, California | Chocolate squares with a variety of flavors. Flavors include dark chocolate filled with raspberry, dark chocolate and sea salt filled with caramel, dark chocolate filled with mint, milk chocolate and white chocolate with peppermint candy, and plain dark chocolate. Quite good. |
Glosette | Canada, Ontario | Chocolate-covered peanuts. Exactly what you'd expect. |
Goo Goo Cluster | USA | An overly-sweet patty of marshmallow nougat with caramel and peanuts enclosed in chocolate. Varieties are original, pecan, and peanut butter. The peanut butter replaces the nougat with sweetened peanut butter. Not a big fan of any of them. |
Hawaiian Sun - Kona Krunch | USA, Hawaii | A macadamia nut and puffed rice covered in milk chocolate. Decent, but nothing special. |
Heath | USA | English toffee with chopped almonds throughout, coated in chocolate. Really good, delicious toffee flavor and enjoyable crunch. |
Hershey's Kisses | USA | Small pyramid-shaped chocolates wrapped in foil. Pretty boring, but various forms have been made including almond, mint, cherry, and white-chocolate "Hugs." |
Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme | USA | White chocolate bar with chocolate cookie bits. Not very good. |
Hershey's Gold | USA | Peanut butter flavored candy bar with a few bits of peanut and pretzels. I don't care for the flavor, and there isn't enough pretzels. |
Hershey's Milk Chocolate | USA | A simple milk chocolate bar. Too sweet, poor texture. |
Hershey's Symphony | USA | A milk chocolate bar with chopped almonds and toffee chips. Very good. |
Jeżyki - Baton Classic | Poland | Wheat biscuit wrapped in caramel, topped with rice crispies and chopped hazelnuts, all coated in milk chocolate. It's okay. |
Kex - Choklad | Sweden | Layered crispy wafers covered in milk chocolate. Kind of like a KitKat, but in one giant bar. |
Kinder Chocolate | Italy | Milk chocolate with sweet milk filling and a little Aryan boy on the cover. Kind of Nazi-looking, but extremely good. |
KitKat | USA | A wafer bar coated in chocolate. Decent flavor, nice crunch. |
KitKat - Green Tea | Japan | KitKat coated in green tea flavored white chocolate. Not a fan. |
KitKat - Mint | Japan | KitKat with dark chocolate on the bottom and mint chocolate on the top. Very good, better than the original. |
Konti - Bonjour | Ukraine | A sugar cookie and a layer of cappuccino jelly topped with coffee whipped cream all in dome of milk chocolate. Interesting concept, messy to eat, the coffee makes it too bitter for my taste. |
Krispy | USA | Flat milk chocolate bar with crispy rice inside. Not as good as a Nestlé Crunch bar. |
Lazy Cow | Ukraine | Crispy wafer with sweetened milk flavoring coated in chocolate. Very good. |
Lindt - Classic Recipe - Hazlenut | Switzerland | A large milk chocolate bar with chopped roasted hazelnuts. Very tasty. |
Lindt - Excellence - Chili | USA, New Hampshire | A large dark chocolate bar with chili extract. The dark chocolate is bitter, and the chili just adds heat, not much flavor. Not a fan. |
Lindt - Excellence - Intense Orange | USA, New Hampshire | A large dark chocolate bar with almonds, orange, and various other fruit extracts. The bitterness of the dark chocolate is helped by the fruit. It's decent. |
Lindt - Gourmet Truffles | USA, New Hampshire | An assortment of Lindors. Flavors include caramel dark chocolate, fudge swirl milk chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate. Overly sweet. I only enjoyed the caramel. |
Lindt - Lindor | USA, New Hampshire | A milk chocolate shell with a soft filling. Fillings include fudge swirl, milk chocolate, and white chocolate. Good, but extremely sweet, and not worth the calories. |
M&M's | USA, New Jersey | Candy-coated milk chocolate bites. The original is plain chocolate, but various fillings have been tried over the years. My favorites are: peanut, mint, crispy, pretzel, English toffee, almond, peanut butter, plain, and hazelnut spread. |
Mallo Cup | USA, Pennsylvania | Chocolate cups filled with runny marshmallow and coconut. Much better than I expected. |
Marabou | Sweden | Milk chocolate bar, with or without nuts. Creamier than American chocolate. |
Marabou - Dubbel Nougat | Sweden | Layered candy bar that's half milk chocolate and half almond praline. It's okay, but very sweet. |
Marabou - Oreo | Sweden | Candy bar filled with sweet milk, Oreo pieces, and thinly wrapped in milk chocolate. Pretty good. |
Meivel - Turrón Viena | Spain | Wafer sandwiched with nougat and coated in chocolate. The flavor is a bit odd, but not bad. |
Milky Way | USA | Nougat and soft caramel covered in chocolate. Was my favorite chocolate bar as a child, but now I find it to be a bit too sweet. |
Milky Way Caramel | USA | Soft caramel covered in chocolate. Too much caramel, not enough anything else. |
Milky Way Midnight | USA | White nougat and caramel covered in dark chocolate. My favorite chocolate candy bar. |
Moro | Australia | Caramel and nougat coated in milk chocolate. Structured like a Milky Way, but with a very different taste. The caramel has a more cooked, almost burnt flavor. |
Mounds | USA | Sweetened coconut coated in dark chocolate. Pretty good, but not as good as Almond Joy. |
Mr. Big | Canada, Ontario | A vanilla sandwich wafer wrapped in caramel, rice crispies, and chopped peanuts, all wrapped in milk chocolate. Pretty good. |
Mr. Goodbar | USA | Hershey's milk chocolate with peanuts. Better than the plain chocolate bar, but not amazing. |
Nestlé Crunch | USA | Flat milk chocolate bar with crispy rice inside. Pretty good and better than Krispy. |
Nestlé Nuts | Czech Republic | Nougat with the occasional hazelnut, topped with caramel and covered in milk chocolate. Pretty good. |
Nestlé Sundy | France | A sweetened corn flake bar half-dipped in dark chocolate. Not very good. |
Novy Star Bar | Egypt | A firm chewy nougat (like a Charleston Chew) with a very thin layer of chopped peanuts and caramel all coated in milk chocolate. Quite bland. |
Now - Chocolate Paste | Pakistan | Chocolate frosting in a plastic wrapper. Messy to eat and not very good. |
Oh Henry! | Canada, Ontario | A milk chocolate bar filled with peanuts, caramel, and peanut butter. Decent, but extremely sweet and gritty from the sugar. |
Orion - Lentilky | Czech Republic | Small candy-coated milk chocolate bites. Like M&Ms, but with a thicker candy shell and more color variety. |
Ovation | USA | Dark chocolate stick filled with mild peppermint. They're okay. |
PayDay | USA | Peanut butter nougat coated with caramel, and a thick layer of salted peanuts. Really good. Better than a Baby Ruth. |
Pixie Caramel | Australia | A caramel bar covered in semi-dark chocolate. Enjoyable. |
Plopp | Sweden | Milk chocolate bar filled with gooey toffee. Quite good, if you can get past the name. |
Ptasie Mleczko - Batonik Waniliowy | Poland | A long narrow vanilla marshmallow coated in dark chocolate. Not very good. |
Reese's Peanut Butter Cup | USA | Sweetened peanut butter in a flat milk chocolate cup. Too sweet and oily. |

Regina Umbrella | Portugal | Umbrella-shaped chocolate. I've only had the milk chocolate flavor, it was good. |
Ritter Sport - Butter Biscuit | Germany | Tea biscuit coated in milk chocolate. Crunchy, but not much flavor. |
Ritter Sport - Corn Flakes | Germany | Milk chocolate bar with cornflakes. They add crunch, but the flavor isn't great. |
Ritter Sport - Hazelnut | Germany | Chocolate bar with lots of whole hazelnuts. Sold in milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Good flavor and crunch. |
Ritter Sport - Marzipan | Germany | Dark chocolate bar with marzipan filling. A bitter and unappealing combination. |
Ritter Sport - Milk Chocolate | Germany | Basic milk chocolate bar. Slightly different flavor and texture from American chocolate. |
Ritter Sport - Praline | Germany | Milk chocolate bar with praline filling. Quite delicious. |
Robin Eggs | USA | Whoppers with a thin candy shell. I prefer regular Whoppers, the candy coating only adds sugar and decreases the maltose flavor. |
Rolo | USA | A milk chocolate cylinder filled with grainy caramel. Sweet, but Bland. |
Roshen Dark Chocolate | Ukraine | Dark chocolate car filled with creamy fondant. Pretty good. The fondant makes it less bitter than normal dark chocolate. |
Sanders - Sea Salt Caramel Pecan Clusters | USA, Michigan | Chopped pecans and caramel coated in chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt. Good caramel, and the salt adds to it. I'm not a big fan of pecans though. |
Skor | USA | Thin toffee coated in chocolate. Pretty good, but Heath is better. |
Special Dark | USA | A dark chocolate bar. Slightly bitter, better than Hershey's milk chocolate. |
Snickers | USA | A nougat bar topped with caramel and peanuts, coated in chocolate. Very enjoyable. Growing up, I preferred Milky Way, but now I like Snickers more. |
Snickers Almond | USA | Snickers but with almond pieces instead of peanuts which gives it a more unique flavor. This is my favorite Snickers. |
Snickers Crisper | USA | Snickers but with rice crisps added. I like this more than regular Snickers. |
Snickers Peanut Brownie | USA | Brownie with caramel and peanuts coated in milk chocolate. Pretty good. |

Toblerone | Switzerland | Prism-shaped chocolate triangles. Contains chopped almond and nougat bits. Not very good. |
Tirma - Ambrosías | Spain | Crispy wafers layered with creme and coated in white chocolate. It's okay, but I'm not a white chocolate fan. |
Twix | USA | Cookie bar with a topping, and then coated in chocolate. Most common is caramel. Peanut butter used to be very popular when I was a child, but I don't see it anymore. Pretty good. |
Wafer Snap | Cheap knock-off of KitKat from Meijer, but with a mealy flavor. | |
Wawel - Krówkowa | Poland | Milk chocolate bar with pockets of soft caramel. Like a Caramello, but with a better caramel flavor. |
Whitman's Sampler | USA | A mix of various chocolate candies. Flavors include: chocolate whip, fruit & nut caramel, caramel, dark maple fudge, chocolate truffle, toffee (kind of burnt taste), cherry cordial, dark chocolate covered almonds, cashew cluster, chocolate covered peanuts, coconut, dark molasses chew, pecan & walnut cluster, and messenger boy (plain milk chocolate). |
Whittaker's Peanut Slab | Australia | A thick milk chocolate bar filled with whole peanuts. It's fine, but nothing special. |
Whoppers | USA | Malt sugar balls coated in chocolate milk. Lovely crunch, delicious flavor. |
Zero | USA | Caramel, peanut, and almond nougat covered in white chocolate. I don't care much for white chocolate, and the almond tastes more like extract than actual nuts. Not a fan. |
Caramels and Toffees
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
Atkinson's - Peanut Butter Bar | USA, Texas | A crun-chewy candy with a delicious peanut butter flavor. Very good. |
Bonds of London Assorted Toffee Whirls | England | Toffee swirled with a creme filling. Very sweet, but a little bland. |
Bonds of London Clotted Cream Fudge | England | Kind of like a clumpy version of American caramel. Good flavor, not as chewy as I'd like. |
Charleston Chew | USA | Taffy-like nougat coated in chocolate. Nougats include chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Not that great. |
Frango Caramel Chocolates | USA, New York | Chocolate covered caramels. Very chewy and buttery. Delicious. |
Kraft Caramels | USA | Clumpy bland caramels. Not a fan. |
Milanówek Milky Cream Fudge | Poland | Clumpy bland caramel. |
Mimix - Dolce | Egypt | Hard coffee-flavored toffee lozenges. Delicious. |
Milk Duds | USA | Chocolate covered caramel lumps. Kind of bland. |
Milk Maid Royals | USA | Various flavors wrapped in a caramel tube. It's been a long time since I've had them, but I remember loving them. |
Riesen | Germany | A chocolate caramel coated in dark chocolate. Not too sweet, and very delicious. |
Slo Poke | USA | Chewy caramel. Better than most American caramels like pasty Sugar Babies or the grainy Kraft caramel. |
Sugar Babies | USA | Bean-sized caramels with a firm exterior. Pretty bland and grainy. |
Sugar Daddy | USA | Hard caramel on a stick. The caramel is good, but I would like it more without the stick. I always end up eating a bit of paper trying to get the caramel off. |
Toffifay | Germany | A thin caramel cup holds toffee and hazlenuts with a dab of milk chocolate. Lots of good flavors, but they don't totally mesh. |
Tootsie Roll | USA, Illinois | A chewy chocolate caramel. Simple, old fashioned, and delicious. |
Tootsie Roll Mini Bites | USA, Illinois | Smaller, candy-coated Tootsie Roll cylinders. Similar taste, but less messy. |
Walker's Original Toffee | England | Very hard chewy toffee. Tastes like a Werther's, but slightly chewy, very nice. |
Werther's Original | Germany | Hard butter toffees. Very enjoyable. |
Gum
Candy | Parent | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Altoids Gum | Altoids | England | Small rounded-square gum with thin hard-candy shells sold in a small tin. Flavors include peppermint, cinnamon, wintergreen, spearmint, sour apple, and sour cherry. I've only had the peppermint which was okay, and the sour cherry, which I don't remember liking. |
Bazooka Joe Bubble Gum | Topps | USA | A small rectangular piece of bubble gum wrapped with a tiny comic strip. When I was a kid the flavors included bubble gum, cherry, grape, and apple, but now only bubble gum flavor is sold. The gum also had groves on one side, but there were eliminated in the remake, and the gum was slightly smaller. All versions of the gum lost its flavor pretty quickly and was exceptionally hard. A special soft version was released. When I was in grade school, they redid the comics and character designs. I didn't care much for the later designs. The comic strips had a gag, a fortune, and a item that you could get by mailing in comics and money. |
Beemans | Verburg | USA | Wintergreen flavored gum. Current style is pretty awful. Originally contained pepsin to control digestion, but no longer does. |
Big Choice - Gum Cigars | Swell | USA | Bubblegum shaped like a cigar with a cigar label and individually wrapped. Decent gum, not exactly kid-friendly. Flavors are fruit, mint, and banana. |
Big Red | Wrigley | USA | A strong cinnamon flavor. My favorite cinnamon gum. |
Big League Chew | Ford Gum | USA | Shredded bubblegum in a pouch to resemble chewing tobacco. The flavors are usually great, the gum stays soft for a long time, and who doesn't love the idea of selling something which resembles chewing tobacco to children? My favorite flavors include bubblegum, grape, watermelon, strawberry. I remember having a sour apple flavored, but it was too sour to appreciate. I had cotton candy, but I don't remember the flavor. |
Black Jack | Verburg | USA | A licorice flavored gum. Nice at first, but nauseates me after chewing for awhile. |
Bubble Jug | Wrigley | USA | A small plastic jug filled with tiny bubble gum pellets and flavored powered sugar. Eating it was difficult and messy and resulted in a mouth full of powder. The only flavor I tried was tropical fruit. |
Bubble Puck | ? | USA | Sold in a black plastic "hokey puck" container, it was a solid block of low-quality pink bubble gum. I remember buying this as a child and thinking it was really cool. |
Bubble Tape | Wrigley | USA | Six feet of bubble gum stored in a plastic dispenser. Originally it came in a simple capped cylinder, but later versions had a built in slicers. A lot of flavors were made, but my favorites were grape, bubblegum, and strawberry. A Juicy Fruit flavor was made, but the texture was too different from the original for me to find it appealing. I once put an entire bubblegum flavored Bubble Tape roll in my mouth all at once just to see if it was possible. It took awhile, and a lot of drool, but I did it. A short-lived 10 foot long Mega Roll was made which used slightly thinner and narrower gum. |
Bubblegum Cigarettes | World Confections | USA | Bubblegum wrapped in a paper to look like a cigarette in a box that used cigarette-like graphics. Even has powdered sugar you could blow out to make it look like smoke (though this only works once). Hard bland gum. A great way to convince children that smoking is cool. |
Canel's | Canel's | Mexico | Chiclets-style gum sold in small packs of 4. A variety of flavors, loses flavor very quickly. |
CareFree | Hershey | USA | A sugar free gum which claimed to whiten your teeth. No longer made. Flavors included bubble gum, spearmint, wintergreen, and peppermint. There was also a strawberry flavor which tasted like medicine and I remember liking it. |
Chiclets | Mondelēz | USA | A rounded-square chewing gum with a thin hard candy shell. Flavors include peppermint and fruit. I liked their shape and packaging, but they lost their flavor very quickly. It stopped being sold in the USA some time ago, but could be imported from Mexico. In 2016 it was discontinued world wide. |
Clove | Verburg | USA | Clove-flavored gum. Used to have a stronger flavor, but it's become weaker these days. |
Cry Baby | Tootsie | USA | Gumball with a citric acid coating to make them sour. Loses flavor and sourness extremely fast. |
Dentyne - Fire | Mondelēz | USA, New Jersey | Cinnamon gum. Hotter than typical cinnamon gums, but still not that hot. |
Doublemint | Wrigley | USA | Peppermint gum. Good flavor, long lasting. |
Extra - Cinnamon | Wrigley | USA | Decent cinnamon flavor, but not as good as Big Red. |
Extra - Classic Bubble | Wrigley | USA | Classic bubble gum flavor. Good for bubble blowing. |
Extra - Polar Ice | Wrigley | USA | A strong wintergreen mint flavor. Very refreshing. |
Flash - Watermelon | Maghreb | Morocco | Flavored similar to real watermelon. Not very sweet or chewy. Loses flavor very quickly and turns bitter. |
Fortune Bubble | R.L. Albert & Son | USA, Connecticut | A thick sweet bubblegum that loses its flavor quickly and has a racist stereotype. Was sold for a penny a stick in the 1980s. Each wrapper had a fortune. |
Fruit Stripe | Ferrara | USA | Extremely sweet striped chewing gum sticks. Great flavor for a few seconds before it loses its flavor. |
Fruit Stripe Bubble Gum | Ferrara | USA | Extremely sweet striped bubble gum sticks. Great flavor for a few seconds before it loses its flavor. Slightly better for blowing bubbles. |
Gorilo - Um Doce de Gorila! | Lusiteca | Portugal | Bubble gum packaged nearly identically to Bazooka Joe, but with collectible cartoon gorilla faces instead of comics. The texture is softer, and it doesn't use artificial colors, but it loses its flavor just as quickly. Flavors are passion fruit, strawberry, banana, and orange. |
Hubba Bubba - Max | Wrigley | USA | Stays medium-soft and the flavor lasts for quite awhile. Flavors are: original and strawberry/watermelon. |
Jelly Belly - Very Cherry | Wrigley | USA, New York | Sugar free, pieces are too small, cherry flavor is pretty artificial tasting. |
Jelly Belly - Island Punch | Wrigley | USA, New York | Sugar free, pieces are too small, punch flavor is mostly artificial grape. |
Juicy Fruit | Wrigley | USA | A mildly spicy fruit flavor a mix between banana and jackfruit. Delicious. |
Juicy Fruit - Collisions | Wrigley | USA | A combination of two fruit flavors. I've had tropical/berry and strawberry/watermelon. Both are tasty, but the texture is poorer than normal Wrigley's gum. |
Rain-Blo | Ferrara | USA | Multi-flavored gumballs. Usually lose their flavor and become hard very quickly. |
Super Bubble | Ferrara | USA | Wax paper wrapped plain pink bubble gum. Good flavor for a very short time before it becomes bland and hard. |
Thrills | Tootsie | Spain | Purple chewing gum that, as the package attests, tastes like soap. It's kind of like a minty soap that makes your mouth tingle. It's off-putting, but certainly unique. |
Trident - Cinnamon | Mondelēz | USA, New Jersey | A perfectly suitable cinnamon chewing gum. |
Trident - Tropical Twist | Mondelēz | USA, New Jersey | Tropical flavor combining orange, kiwi, and mango. Nice taste. |
Winterfresh | Wrigley | USA | A strong wintergreen flavored gum. |
Wrigley - Spearmint | Wrigley | USA | Spearmint flavored gum. Very tasty. Wrigley's started adding green food coloring in the 2000s which actually made it slightly less appealing to me. |
Gummy / Chewy
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
Abba-Zaba | USA | Simple taffy with a "mystery" flavor. Nice taste and taffy texture, but it would be nice if there were more than one flavor. |
Ahlgrens Bilar - Original | Sweden | Sweet marshmallow cars with a hint fruit flavor. There are three flavors, but I can't identify any of them. The texture is unique. They're airy, so they collapse from a bite, but then they become rather dense. It's not unpleasant, but unique. Flavors are pink, green, white. |
Airheads | USA, Kentucky | Chewy candy strips in a wide variety of flavors. I don't like the texture, they're far too grainy. |
Airheads Bites - Rainbow Berry | USA | Small chewy rainbow-colored candies. Better texture than ordinary Airheads and good semi-sour flavor. |
Albanese Gummi Bears | USA | My favorite brand for gummy. Softer than most competitors with a large variety of flavors, including: grape, blue raspberry, pineapple, pink grapefruit, green apple, watermelon, lime, strawberry, cherry, lemon, mango, and orange. |
Albanese Gummi Bears - Ultimate | USA | An all-natural flavors and colors variety. Half the flavors are so muted they're difficult to discern, and the similar colors don't help, the others like orange and mango are kind of gross. Flavors are: Amity Raspberry, Queen pineapple, crimson cranberry, black currant, Fuji apple, Asian pear, blood orange, and Alphonso mango. |
Banana Skids | Sweden | Banana and toffee flavored hard taffy. A good combination of flavors. |
Betty Crocker - Fruit Flavored Snacks | USA, Minnesota | Assorted gummy snacks themed with the latest fad. Although they're made in different colors and advertised as having assorted flavors, they all taste the same with a vaguely fruity sweetness. Not very good. |
Black Forest Gummy Bears | USA | Better than Harbio, but not as good as Albanese. |
Bonds of London Fruit Pastilles | London | Gummy candies coated in sugar. Basically, firm gumdrops, but made with real fruit juice. Better than most American gumdrops. |
Candy Corn | USA | A chewy sugary candy shaped in a corn kernel-shaped pyramid, with orange, yellow, and white coloring. Bland and waxy. |
Cherri and Bubb | USA | Mike and Ike style candy with just cherry and bubble gum flavors. It was nice to have bubble gum, but cherry already existed in the original Mike and Ike, so it was redundant. |
Chewy Lemonhead Fruit Mix | USA, Illinois | Chewy versions of Lemonheads. Flavors include: grape, lemon, cherry, lime, orange. |
Chewy Lemonhead Pink Lemonade | USA, Illinois | Chewy versions of Lemonheads, just pink lemonade flavor. Kind of bland. |
Chuckles | USA | Sugar-coated jellies. Like gum drops, but softer. Flavors are: cherry, lime, lemon, orange, and licorice. |
Cougar Yogurt | Thailand | Yogurt-flavored chews. Has a tart mildly acidic yogurt flavor which is interesting. |
Crazy Bee | Ukraine | Fruit jellies, not as chewy as gummies, with a fruit goop inside. Very good. I've only tasted strawberry, lime, and orange, but other flavors include grapefruit, sour cherry, and wild berry. |
Crows | USA | Licorice flavored dots. Gross, unless you like licorice. |
Dare Real Fruit Gummies - Superfruits | Canada, Ontario | Plant-based gummies. Very waxy and not much flavor. Flavors are: blueberry, cranberry, blackberry, and black currant. |
Dots | USA | Chewy gumdrops without any sugar coating. Flavors, in order of appreciation are: strawberry, cherry, lime, lemon, and orange. |
Drumstick Squashies - Sour Cherry & Apple | London | A hybrid of marshmallow and gummy. Good flavor and texture. Goofy name. They're not drumstick shaped, instead, they look like school erasers. |
Fabulicious - Sherbert Fizz | New Zealand | Red licorice tubes filled with a sour semi-fizzy ooze. Not much flavor, just sugary and sour. |
Fini - Bricks Ladrillos - Strawberry? | Spain | Candy "bricks" with a white filling coated in sugar. Very sweet, but not much flavor. |
Fini - Jelly Bananas | Spain | Banana shaped and flavored gummies coated in sugar. Pretty good, but has the typical fake banana flavor that is slightly chemical tasting. |
Fini - Roller Fizz - Strawberry | Spain | Strawberry flavored candy roll covered with a tart sugar. Tastes good, but very messy. |
Four Seas Daifuku Marshmallow | China | Marshmallow with a semi-sweet chocolate paste inside. Pretty good. |
Fruit Salad | Spain | Same texture and packaging as Star Burst, even to the point of using a tear drop, but only one flavor, a swirl of pineapple and raspberry. Sweet and chewy, but almost medicinal in taste. |
Gimbal's Gourmet Jelly Beans | USA | Used to be a good replacement for Jelly Belly, but they changed their formula in 2020 and ruined the texture. Eats more like a cheap generic jelly bean now. |
Good & Fruity | USA | Like Good & Plenty, only with cherry flavored candy in the center instead of licorice, and a different flavored coating based on the color. Original flavors were raspberry, cherry, lime, lemon, and orange. In 1992, the center candy was changed to match the exterior color. The candy frequently goes out of production. It was brought back in 2008 with raspberry replaced with blue raspberry. |
Good & Plenty | USA | Pink and white candy-coated licorice cylinders. Gross. |
Haribo - Friendship Rings | Germany | Gummy rings with a "stone." They're a bit hard and bland. Each ring has two flavors, one for the band, and one for the stone. The flavors are the same a Gold-Bears. |
Haribo - Gold-Bears | Germany | Gummy bears that are a bit bland and hard. I prefer Albanese. Flavors are: pineapple, cherry, lime, lemon, and orange. |
Haribo - Happy Cherries | Germany | Gummy cherries that are a bit hard with a medicinal cherry flavor. Not awful. |
Haribo - Happy-Cola | Germany | Gummy cola bottles. A bit hard, and, like most cola candy, the flavor is a bit off. |
Haribo - Pik - Orangina | France | Gummy bottles of Orangina. They have a similar semi-bitter citrus flavor. Flavors are rouge and original. |
Haribo - Pika - Spaghetti | Spain | Gummy strawberry spaghetti strings with sour sugar. Flavor and texture is good, but, with only a single flavor, it gets old fast. |
Haribo - Rainbow Saver | Germany | Gummy flat tubes covered with tart sugar. Flavors are blackberry, "tropical," strawberry, and apple. They're okay. |
Haribo - Roulette - Cola | France | Gummy cola discs. I'm not a fan of candy cola flavor. Also, it's not exactly roulette if all the flavors are the same, is it? |
Haribo - Starmix | Germany | An assortment of Harbio gummies (Gold-Bears, Happy Cherries, Twin Snakes, Happy-Cola, and Friendship Rings). The tartness of the cola flavor leeches into the other candies a little. |
Haribo - Tagada | France | Marshmallow gummies with a red sugar shell. A bit tart and very sweet. Enjoyable. |
Haribo - Twin Snakes | Germany | Two gummy snakes, each a different flavor, merged together. One is sweet, the other is sour. A bit hard, but better flavor than Gold-Bears. |
Hello Kitty - Strawberry Marshmallow | Japan | Mild strawberry flavored marshmallow with a small amount of strawberry spread inside each one. Not too bad. |
Hi-Chew | Japan | A chewy candy of assorted flavors. The texture is like a cross between chewing gum and gummy candy. It uses real fruit so the tastes are much more accurate compared to American candy. My favorite flavors are grape (especially good!), apple, strawberry, white peach, açai, kiwi, and mango. Uses foil wrappers for longer freshness. |
Hi-Chew Plus Fruit | Japan | Includes fruit pulp in the candy. Flavors are mango/pineapple and cranberry/grape. |
Hi-Chew Sours | Japan | Not sour at all, just citrusy. Flavors are lime, grapefruit, and lemon. |
Hilal - B-rry Bites | Pakistan | Raspberry and blackberry gumdrops coated in candy dots. Good flavor. |
Hilal - Jiggles - Crunch | Pakistan | Small jelly beans with a candy shell for added crunch. Not bad. Flavors are red fruit, black currant, lemon, and orange. |
Hilal - Jiggles - Watermelon | Pakistan | Watermelon gummies shaped like watermelon slices and coated in sugar. Decent. |
Hot Tamales | USA | Mike and Ike style candy, but all cinnamon. Nice flavor, decent heat, but gets boring with just one flavor. |
Huer Sour Cola Bottles | Canada, Quebec | Gummy cola bottles with a sour sugar coating. Decently sour, but I don't care much for cola candy, so I don't care much for these. |
Jelly Belly | USA | Jelly beans with dozens of flavors, many of which taste shockingly like their analog. I love these, but they're very expensive. |
Jengo - Sour Bites | Egypt | Gel cola bottles coated in sour sugar. Decent flavor, but dull. |
Jojo - Jahůdky | Czech Republic | Sugar coated candy balls with strawberry flavored candy jelly inside. Not unpleasant, but boring. |
Jojo - Vexta | Czech Republic | Marshmallow cubes. The flavors taste quite natural and include cherry, apple, lemon, and orange. |
Jolly Joes | USA | Mike and Ike style candy, but all grape flavor. Gets boring fast. |
Jolly Rancher Gummies | USA | Gummy Jolly Ranchers. Slightly waxy exterior. Flavors include green apple, watermelon, blue raspberry, grape, and cherry. |
Jolly Rancher Misfits | USA | Gummy candies with two flavors in each piece. Flavors include green apple/cherry, blue raspberry/watermelon, and strawberry/lemon. Candy uses proper Jolly Rancher flavors, and I like the gummy texture, but I would prefer if the flavors were separate. |
Jujubes | USA | Semi-hard chewy candies in small cylinders. Flavors include (in order of appreciation): raspberry, lime, grape, lemon, orange. Usually too hard to enjoy. |
Jujyfruits | USA | Semi-hard chewy candies in fruit shapes. Flavors include (in order of appreciation): raspberry, lime, lemon, orange, and anise. I like the idea, but I usually find they're too hard to appreciate because they get stuck in your teeth. |
Kasugai Gummy Candy | Japan | Gummy discs. Flavors include: grape, muscat, pineapple, peach, mango, kiwi, Ramune, lychee, yuzu, strawberry, watermelon, and apple. Others I haven't tasted include: cranberry, lemonade, melon, and orange. |
Lacasa Pikotas | Spain | Cherry balls with a gummy center. Enjoyable, but needs more variety. |
Laffy Taffy | USA | Taffy in assorted flavors with lame jokes on the wrappers. The taffy has a good texture, and most of the flavors are good. Although a lot of flavors have been made over the years, you usually only see strawberry and banana. The cheap packaging causes the taffy to harden after a couple days. |
Lem and Mel | USA | Mike and Ike style candy consisting of just lemon and watermelon flavors. The watermelon was a nice addition, but lemon was in the original, so it's redundant. |
Lush Chocolates | Thailand | Small chocolate chews filled with chocolate creme. Kind of bland. |
Li Hing Mui - Rainbow Belts | USA, Hawaii | Chewy rainbow strips flavored with Chinese li hing mui plums. A mix of sweet, salty, and fruity. Enjoyable to eat. |
Lunch Buddies Fruit Flavored Snacks | USA | Generic fruit snacks. Decent texture, little flavor, fruit shape doesn't always match flavor. Flavors include: cherry, grape, apple, strawberry, lime, orange. |
Mamba | Germany | Fruit chews. Not as waxy as Starburst. Assortments have problems giving an equal amount of flavors. One bag I had was almost entirely orange with no cherry, while the bar-form promise four flavors, but only contain three at random. Flavors I've tasted include raspberry, strawberry, orange, and lemon. |
Mamba - Tropics | Germany | Fruit chews. Not as waxy as Starburst. Same assortment variety problem. Flavors I've tasted include pineapple-coconut, mango-orange, and apple-kiwi. |
Maoam - Bloxx | Germany | Slightly sour taffy bites. I've only had raspberry and orange. They're good, but nothing special. |
Mary Jane | USA | Peanut and molasses chews. Very good. |
Maynard - Juicy Squirts - Berry | Canada, Ontario | Fruit gummies with liquid center. Flavors are cherry, peach, strawberry. My pack was mostly peach and strawberry with only two cherry and no grape. These have a very artificial flavor with a medicinal aftertaste, not a fan. |
Meiji Gummy Choco | Hong Kong | Strawberry gummy drops coated in milk chocolate. |
Mentos - Mint | Netherlands | Hard candy shell with a chewy center with a peppermint flavor. I like the texture, but the same flavor gets old fast. |
Mentos - Fruit | Netherlands | Hard candy shell with a chewy center with three fruit flavors: strawberry, orange, and lemon. There is little variety as 66% of the flavors are citrus, and they seem to appear far more frequently than the strawberry flavor. |
Mentos - Soda Mix | Thailand | Hard candy shell with a chewy center with four flavors: grape, honeydew, lemon, and strawberry. The flavors are just fruit flavors with a slightly more acidic flavor, only the grape flavor tastes like actual grape soda. The strawberry tastes a bit bitter. Not very good. |
Mike and Ike | USA | Barrel-shaped candies with a chewy center and semi-hard shell. Flavors are: cherry, strawberry, lime, lemon, and orange. |
Mike and Ike - Mega Mix | USA | Mike and Ike with 10 fruit flavors including: Caribbean punch, strawberry-banana, paradise punch, grape soda, kiwi banana, mango delight, watermelon, pineapple banana, peach berry, and blue raspberry. Far more enjoyable than the regular mix. |
Mixed Berry Pastilles | Malaysia | Chewy blackcurrant and grape gumdrops coated in sugar. Sour and delicious. |
Mott's Fruit Flavored Snacks | USA | Good texture, but very little flavor, they're just sweet. There are only 3 flavors: apple, pear, and sweet potato, and five shapes: grape, strawberry, apple, carrot, pear. |
Nerds - Big Chewy | USA | Chewy centers with a crunchy candy shell. A little tart, but otherwise bland, and I'm pretty sure this candy existed before and just now has a new branding. The bag I bought had a lot of orange and a little grape. Flavors are grape, strawberry, orange, and lemon. |
Nerds - Big Chewy - Sour | USA | Chewy centers with a crunchy candy shell. Mildly sour. Flavors are blue raspberry, watermelon, blood orange, strawberry lemonade. |
Ninja Gummy | Japan | Firm gummy lozenges with a thin candy coating. Cola flavored. Not that great. |
Nordic Sweets Soft Raspberries | Sweden | Raspberry gumdrops. They are bouncier than American gumdrops and require more pressure to chew through. Good highly-sweet raspberry flavor. |
Norfolk Manor - Jelly Babies | UK | Child-shaped jellies coated in powdered sugar. Not very good. Flavors are raspberry, black current, strawberry, lime, lemon, and orange. |
Now and Later Shell Shocked | USA | Puts a smooth hard shell on Now and Laters and sold unwrapped in a bag of assorted flavors. Kind of nice because they don't dry out as badly as ordinary Now and Laters, but they're also considerably softer which takes away some of the fun of the candy. I don't care much for them, but I like the favorite in the following order: cherry, grape, apple, banana, and strawberry (which tastes strange). |
Original Gummi Fun Mix | Spain | An assortment of gummy bears, worms, cherries, sharks, and Swirlz (large swirled gumdrops). Seems like a collection of the stuff that fell off the machine rather than a purposely made mix. The assortment claim 18 varieties, but they're including different flavors. The "worms" are so short they're more like maggots. The bears and worms aren't very good, but the sharks and drops are nice. |
Orion Jelly - Grape | South Korea | Medium-sized gummy snacks with a decent flavor. Flavors are grape and peach. |
Panditas | Mexico | Gummy pandas. Too hard, not enough flavor or variety. Flavors are strawberry, lime, orange, and pineapple. |
Paradise | Egypt | Candy chews. Flavors include pineapple, strawberry, mango, and cola. |
Pascall Fruit Burst | Australia | Chewy fruit bites. Flavors are wild berry, banana, strawberry, lemon & lime. |
Pascall Pineapple Lumps | Australia | Chewy pineapple bites coated in chocolate. Kind of like a Charleston Chew. Pretty good, but I would like more than just one flavor. |
Pedro | Czech Republic | Strips of strawberry fruit leather coated with semi-sour granulated sugar. It's fine, but it would be better if it had more than one flavor. |
Pelon Pelonetes | Mexico | Little candy balls with a chewy center. Despite the rainbow colors, they are all tamarind flavor. Not that great. |
Primrose - Salt Water Taffy | USA, Illinois | Standard chewy salt water taffy chunks wrapped in wax paper. Flavors are orange creamsicle, cherry, blue berry, watermelon, lemon/lime, Neapolitan, chocolate, orange, and peppermint. |
Puchao | Japan | Puchao are multi-textured chewy candies of assorted flavors. The fruit flavors are grape, mango, strawberry, and cantaloupe. The pop flavors are cola and Ramune which have little pockets of fizzy powder in them. The Ramune flavor is spot on, while the cola flavor is a bit bitter. |
Rowntree's Fruit Gems | UK | Firm fruit gummies with a small amount of real fruit flavor. Flavors are grape, lime, strawberry, lemon, and orange. |
Skalle Skum - Cool Hallon | Sweden | Sour raspberry gummy skull and crossbones. Good flavor, nice and chewy. |
Skittles | USA | Small chewy candies with a thin hard shell. Flavors are cherry, grape, sour apple, lemon, and orange. |
Skittles - Brightside | USA | Flavors are paradise punch, pink lemonade, watermelon, kiwi banana, and tangerine. |
Skittles - Darkside | USA | Flavors are forbidden fruit, black berry, midnight lime, dark berry, blood orange. |
Skittles - Dips | USA | Same flavors as original Skittles, but with a yogurt coating. The crumbly texture of the yogurt is a little off-putting, and the sweetness of the candy clashes with the yogurt, but it does add a nice creaminess to the flavor. |
Skittles - Wild Berry | USA | Flavors are wild cherry, melon berry, berry punch, raspberry, and strawberry. |
Skittles - Wild Berry - Gummy | USA | Same flavors as Wild Berry, but as gummies without a candy shell. Has an oily texture. |
Sour Patch Kids | USA | Gummy kid-shaped candies coated in sugar and citric acid. Flavors are blue raspberry, raspberry, lime, lemon, and orange. |
Sour Patch Kids - Heads | Canada | Gummy kid-shaped candies coated in sugar and citric acid. Larger than regular ones. The heads are one flavor, the bodies another. Flavors are blue raspberry and pink lemonade, pineapple and redberry, and peach and orange. |
Sour Patch Kids - Watermelon | Turkey | Gummy watermelon-slice shaped candy coated in a mildly sour sugar. Decent taste, but too homogenious. |
Spangler Marshmallow Circus Peanuts | USA | Bright orange marshmallow candies shaped like large peanuts. Nicely chewy, but extremely sweet with a hint of citrus flavor. |
Spice Drops | USA | Gumdrops with spice and mint flavors. Different per manufacturer, but the usual flavors include cinnamon (red), wintergreen (green), clove (yellow), peppermint (white), orange (orange), and anise (purple). |
Spree (Chewy) | USA | A chewy version of the normal candy. I like these slightly better than the hard ones. |
Starburst | USA | Firm fruit chews. Flavors are strawberry, cherry, lemon, and orange. |
Starburst FaveReds | USA | Starburst with the flavors: fruit punch, cherry, strawberry, and watermelon. |
Starburst GummiBursts | USA | Fruit snacks with liquid centers. Nice texture combination, but the flavors don't match the original candy. Flavors are strawberry, cherry, lemon, orange. |
Sugus | Portugal | Starburst with a different name and sold as mixed flavors, or an entire pack of a single flavor. I've only had orange flavor (laranja) which has more of an orange concentrate flavor compared with Starburst orange. |
Swedish Fish | Turkey | Fish-shaped gummy candy, waxier than most other gummies, but not unpleasant. Flavors include an unique red flavor, lime, lemon, and orange. The red flavor is interesting, the others are generic. |
Sweet Tarts - Chewy | USA | Round flat discs, much larger than a regular Sweet Tart, but with an added chewiness. I prefer these over the original. Flavors are: grape, cherry, lime, lemon. |
Sweet Tarts - Mini Chewy | USA | Nice texture, but they don't taste all that great. More sour than flavor. Seems like there are more yellow and orange than any other color. |
Sweet Tarts - Soft & Chewy Ropes | USA | The cherry punch straw is decent, but the cream inside is awful. |
Têtes Brulées - Barres De Rire (Hot Heads - Laughing Bars) | France | Sour chewy candy like Airheads with a sweet fruity center. Flavors are apple and strawberry. Not bad, and very sour. |
Tootsie Fruit Chews | USA | Chewy Tootsie Roll-shaped fruit candies with a harder shell in the flavors of lemon, lime, cherry, orange, and blue raspberry. They're the same artificial flavors as fruity Tootsie Roll candies. Enjoyable, but a little waxy. |
Tootsie Fruit Chews Rolls | USA | Same consistency as a Tootsie Roll, but with alternate flavors. My favorite flavors in order of best to worst are vanilla, cherry, lime, orange, and lemon. I especially like mixing vanilla with orange or cherry. |
Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers Minis | Germany | Bland, not very sour, only 3 flavors and they all taste similar. |
Trolli Sour Brite Eggs | Germany | Rubbery texture, not sour at all, only 3 flavors and they all taste similar, nice color fade though. |
Turkish Taffy | USA | Taffy so hard you can shatter it, Flavors include chocolate (great cocoa taste), vanilla, strawberry, and banana. I haven't had banana, but I love all the flavors I've tasted. |
Twizzlers | USA | Bland waxy flavor. Original is strawberry, but they make other flavors. |
Twizzlers - Filled Twists | USA | Twizzlers with a soft sticky center. Two flavors in one package cherry kick and citrus punch. Extremely sweet, but tastes good. |
Twizzlers - Pull 'n' Peel | USA | Fun to eat at first, chewy, but not much flavor. Green apple: decent, cherry: acceptable, watermelon: bland. |
Vidal - Gummi Spicy Mangos | Spain | Gummi mango candy that's actually pretty hot. Not a fan. |
Vimto Mini Fizzy Pencils | England | I like the Vimto flavor, but the strawberry cream filling is awful. |

Welch's Fruit Snacks | USA | |

Yoyo Jelly - Cola | Thailand | Like Kasugai gummies, but cola flavored. A bit generic. |
Zozole - Hello Żelo - Rainbow | Poland | Strips of chewy multi-colored candy coated in sugar and citric acid. They're okay, but nothing special. |
Hard Candies
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
Altoids Candy Sours | England | Small hard candy sour drops of various fruit flavors sold in a circular tin. Flavors include: citrus, apple, raspberry, tangerine, mango, and passion fruit. I've only tasted a couple; they were okay. |
Amira - Tamarind | Thailand | Delicious tamarind and cream lozenges. |
Atomic Fireball | USA | A hot cinnamon jawbreaker. Too hot to be enjoyable. |
Blow Pop | USA | Hard candy shell with bubblegum center. I love these. My favorite flavors are: cherry, blue raspberry, grape, watermelon, strawberry, apple. |
Bonds of London Barley Sugar | England | A sweet hard candy from the UK that's very familiar tasting, but still unique. |
Bonds of London Rhubarb & Custard | England | Hard candy with a mildly tart flavor. Pretty good, and, thankfully, doesn't taste much like real rhubarb. |
Boston Baked Beans | USA | Candy coated peanuts. I used to like them a lot as a child, but now I find they have an almost papery flavor. |
Bottle Caps | Mexico | Bottle cap shaped soda-flavored candies. Pretty awful, only the cherry is a decent flavor. Flavors are cherry, orange, grape, cola, root beer. |
Brach's Butterscotch Discs | USA | Enjoyable Buttery flavor and nice hard candy. What's not to love? |
Brach's Cinnamon Discs | USA | Strong cinnamon flavor, nice hard candy. Simple but delicious. |
Brach's Root Beer Barrels | USA | The flavor is a bit off, but they're still enjoyable. |
Bubbaloo Xtreme | Mexico | A strawberry sucker with bubble gum at the center, sold in a package filled with chili salt. Very unusual. |
Candy Buttons | USA | Small candy blobs adhered to a sheet of paper. Despite their colors, they're often the same bland flavor. You usually end up eating a fair amount of paper trying to eat the buttons. |
Candy Cigarettes | USA | Long cigarette-shaped white candy rods. Bland flavor, but the cigarette packaging helped children believe smoking was cool. |
Charms Mini Pops | USA | Pretty awful suckers. They all have a strange chemical flavor. The bag advertises 12 flavors, but the vast majority are of only 6 flavors. Of them, the only one I like is fruit punch. |
Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer barrels | USA, Massachusetts | Barrel-shaped root beer flavored hard candy. I enjoy the flavor, but I assume they use the name as a marketing gimmick and don't use the actual root beer to flavor it. |
Dum Dums | USA | Small lollypops with a large variety of flavors. I used to like them more as a child, but now I find them to have a rather odd after taste. My favorite flavor is cream soda. |
Fizzy Booom! | Ukraine | Hard candy with fizzy powder inside. Basically Zotz. Flavors are lime, cola, and orange. |
Floco de Neve | Portugal | Hard "Snow Flake" candy lozenges. Has a mild vanilla flavor which is hard to describe, but quite good. |
Harry Potter Candy | England | |

Howe - French Burnt Peanuts | USA | Peanuts with a red candy coating. Kind of bland and chewy. |
Jaw Busters | USA, Illinois | A grape-sized multi-layered hard spherical candy. Kind of bland, but they last a long time. Also comes in mini which are about the size of a peanut. |
Jolly Rancher | USA | Hard candy with a variety of flavors, most of which are delicious. Sold in a variety of shapes including long flat sticks, short flat sticks, smaller rectangular drops, and suckers. I prefer the smaller rectangular drops. |
Kabang | USA | Basically Zotz but more bitter. So-called "energy" candy because it has vitamins and ginseng. Didn't give me energy. Flavors include cherry and grape. |
Lemonhead | USA | A hard lemon candy spheres with a slightly chewy coating. Sold individually as grape-sized candies and in a box with smaller chick pea-sized candies. Later flavors include Grapeheads, Cherryheads, Appleheads, and Orangeheads. |
Li Hing Mui Drops | Taiwan | Hard candy with a golden plum pit inside. Nice sickly sweet flavor, and the plum pit is certainly interesting, but makes it harder to eat. |
LifeSavers | USA | Small torus-shaped hard candies. I enjoy most of the flavors. My favorite fruit flavors are: cherry, blackberry, pineapple, watermelon, and orange (they've changed over the years, and I don't remember how much I liked the older flavors). I really like the butter rum flavor which is butterscotch with a hint of rum. |
M Gourmet Collection Maple Lollipop | Canada, Quebec | An all-natural maple syrup hard candy lollipop which, as you might expect, tastes like real maple syrup. The herbal flavor is quite enjoyable and separates it from artificial flavors. |
Necco Wafers | England | Candy wafers of assorted flavors sold in a wax paper roll. Flavors are: clove (purple), wintergreen (pink), cinnamon (white), chocolate (brown), lime (green), lemon (yellow), orange (orange), and licorice (black). You can also buy an all-chocolate roll. |
Nerds | USA | Sugar crystals coated in a colorful candy shell. Originally sold in a box with two compartments, each with a different flavor. Over the years, many different flavors have been made, but they're generally sold now with just grape and strawberry. I liked these as a child, but now I find them to be too sweet. |
Nerds Rope | USA | Just Nerds stuck onto some taffy. It's fine, I guess, but not worth in increased price tag. |
Original Gourmet | USA | Large hard lollipops with over 30 flavors. I've had orange creamsicle (good), bubble gum (okay), and piña colada (decent). |
Pez | USA | Pressed powered sugar tablets meant to be put into cheap plastic dispensers. Even as a child, I found the dispensers only get in the way of eating the candy. The flavors are mild, but not unpleasant. In order: raspberry, lemon, strawberry, orange, and sugar cookie. |
Pop Rocks | USA | Candy crystal with cavities filled with slightly pressurized carbon dioxide. When the shell weakens, from coming into contact with saliva, the gas escapes with a small pop which creates a tingling sensation in your mouth. There are various flavors. While I like the idea of the candy, it's too expensive for the small amount you get in each pack. |
Rain-Blo Pops | USA | Cheap knock-off of Blow Pops, but with worse flavors and less gum. |
Red Hots | USA | Small hard cinnamon candies. Just enough cinnamon to become hot, but not so much to burn like Atomic Fireballs. Very enjoyable. |
Rellerindos | Mexico | Tamarind hard candy with a chewy center. Quite tart and slightly spicy. Good flavor, but the candy is a bit gritty. |
Ribbon Candy | USA | Hard candy with colorful bands folded into ribbons. Usually with spice and mint flavors. I love these around Christmas time. |

Tic-Tac Fruit Adventure | Canada | Assorted fruit-flavored Tic-Tacs. Flavors are passion fruit, cherry, orange mint, and apple. |
Tootsie Pop | USA | |
Zotz | Italy | Hard candy with a sour fizzy powder inside. It's a strange, but not unpleasant feeling. Comes in various flavors. |
Mints
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
Altoids | England | A small, but powerful mint with a circular tablet shape and sold in a tin. I find these to be too strong and cause me mild nausea. Other flavors include cinnamon, wintergreen, and spearmint, which I don't find to be as strong. Rarer flavors that I haven't tried include ginger, licorice, creme de menthe, and cool honey. |
Jack 'n Jill - Dynamite | Thailand | Mint lozenge with chocolate creme inside. The strong mint flavor overpowers the chocolate unless you suck off the majority of the candy shell first. |
Junior Mints | USA | Small semi-sweet chocolate discs with a gooey peppermint filling. Quite good, but not as good as a York Peppermint Pattie. |
King - Peppermint | Holland | Peppermint discs. Kind of like a large Altoid, but a bit milder. |
Life Savers Mints | USA | Various mint flavors in Life Savers form. My favorites are orange mint, wint-o-green, pep-o-mint, and sweet mint. |
Mentos Mint | Netherlands | Good texture, nice minty flavor. |
Pearson's - Mint Patties | USA, Minnesota | A peppermint patty coated with dark chocolate. Like a York Peppermint Pattie, but there is more filling and it's a bit gooier. |
Red Bird Peppermint Candy Puffs | USA | A crunchy mint that easily falls apart when you chew it and has a mild peppermint flavor. I love these because, unlike most peppermint candies, they're not overpowering. |
Rito - Wintergreen | Canada | Pink wintergreen mints. I love the flavor, but they're a bit harder than they need to be. |
Starbrite Peppermint Discs | USA | Basically a candy cane in disc form. Boring and too strong a flavor. Gives me nausea after only a couple. |
Starbrite Spearmint Discs | USA | A spearmint-flavored disc. Fairly boring, but better than the peppermint. |
Tic Tac Big Berry Adventure | Canada | Mix of raspberry and blueberry Tic Tac mints. The combination of berry and mint is a bit odd, and, with only two flavors, it's hardly an "adventure." |
Tic Tac Mints | Italy | Various flavors of mint in tiny candies. My favorite flavors are wintergreen, orange, cinnamon, and fresh mint. |
York Peppermint Pattie | USA | A peppermint patty coated with dark chocolate. Very enjoyable and good texture. |
Powders
Candy | Nation | Notes |
---|---|---|
Fun Dip | USA | Flavored powered sugar with citric acid (similar to Pixy Stix) in little pouches to be eaten with the included candy sticks which are also powered sugar pressed into a long tablet. You lick the stick to get it wet, dip it in the powder which sticks to the wet stick, and then eat the powder off the stick. Originally called Lik-M-Aid until 1989 and sold with four flavors: cherry, grape, lime, and orange. Now, there are all sorts of flavors. |
Pixy Stix | USA | Flavored powered sugar and citric acid in a paper straw. Not much flavor, but fun to eat by emptying the powder and sucking it up through the straw. Several flavors have been made over the years. When I was a kid my favorite flavors in order were punch (blue), cherry, grape, lime, and orange. Now, packages are sold with only four flavors: punch, cherry, strawberry, and orange. The powder is very similar to Fun Dip, and the flavors are very similar to Sweet Tarts. |
