Knowing who Dan Barker was due to his prominence in the atheist movement, I attended a lecture of his at the University of Michigan Flint. Afterward, we was selling some of his books, and I bought this from him. Shortly after, I read and enjoyed it.

Overall, I enjoyed the book greatly. Barker's memoirs are quite interesting and give an unfiltered look at the mental gymnastics that went on in his mind as a faith believer trying to win souls for God, then the disgust as he slowly became a non-believer who still preached as a source of income. His later writings as a non-believer are very thought-provoking, but I did notice some of his arguments are have issues (like some facts about Mithraism).
