Losing Faith in Faith: From Preacher to Atheist is the biography and collected writings of Dan Barker, a man who was once a Christian preacher, but slowly lost his faith and became an atheist. It was published on 2006-05-01.

Personal

Knowing who Dan Barker was due to his prominence in the atheist movement, I attended a lecture of his at the University of Michigan Flint. Afterward, we was selling some of his books, and I bought this from him. Shortly after, I read and enjoyed it.

Status

I own a signed hardcover copy and have read it.

Review

Overall, I enjoyed the book greatly. Barker's memoirs are quite interesting and give an unfiltered look at the mental gymnastics that went on in his mind as a faith believer trying to win souls for God, then the disgust as he slowly became a non-believer who still preached as a source of income. His later writings as a non-believer are very thought-provoking, but I did notice some of his arguments have issues (like some incorrect facts about Mithraism).
