My very first experience with this series was at an arcade when I was around six years old. There was a PlayChoice-10 cabinet with Super Mario Bros. on it. I didn't know you were supposed to hit the question mark blocks, or that you could jump on the goombas. Suffice to say, I didn't get very far. Mario is a Nintendo franchise that has become the biggest video game empire in history. It has spawned games, television shows, movies, comic books, even breakfast cereals.

I later saw Super Mario Bros. on my baby sitter's NES and though the game was really cool. When my brother and I bought our NES around 1988, I played the game religiously.

To this day, I still love the 2D Mario games, but I haven't been impressed with any of the 3D Mario games.
