For some reason this song evokes a very intense feeling of nostalgia, to the point where tears well up in my eyes. The chorus is romantic, offering up praise to the subject of the song, comparing them to a midnight sun, and saying they are all the singer wants and needs. However, the verses paint a slight darker picture of not being able to break free from the past. The lyrics, however, are relatively simplistic; the real impact of the song comes from the way the music makes me feel. The audio has a mild tinge of loneliness--sort of a far-away feeling. It's perfect to listen to late at night when you're thinking about how you felt in relationships long since ended.

I also tend to remember staying up into the wee hours in of the morning in my parent's basement and playing [[Mega Man II]] in the dark. I don't think the song reminds me of any of the music from Mega Man II, but I think the synth just reminds me of the NES [[Capcom]] sound.

Midnight Sun is my favorite track off of Crossing the Rubicon, an album from The Sounds. The song was recorded in early 2009 and released on June 2, 2009. The song was written and composed by The Sounds with additional writing by A. Schlesinger & J. Iha.

I find this song to be especially beautiful, and for some reason it evokes a very intense feeling of nostalgia, to the point where tears well up in my eyes.

A mightnight sun is a phenomena that occurs in polar regions during a solstice when the sun is visible for a full 24 hour span. I also assume that it has a cultural significance to people who live near the poles, and since the group hails from Sweden, it fits into their culture.

I'm not sure why, but this song brings up a particularly strong memory of staying up into the wee hours in of the morning in my parent's basement and playing Mega Man II in the dark when I was a child. I don't think the song reminds me of any particular music from Mega Man II, but I think the synth just reminds me of the NES Capcom sound.

Lyrics

Waking up with sunbeams in my eyes
And the world outside seems to pass me by
Embrace the land where the ocean meets the sand
And your motion fades away until you take my hand

I will be coming with you
Tonight, you're all that I want
You're all that I have, you're all I need
You will be shining on me
Like a midnight sun, you're the only one who can set me free
You will set me free

Still so young and anxious to be free
But now I'm trapped inside all these memories
There's more than this if you open up your eyes
And then soon you will realize
Those days are all gone

I will be coming with you
Tonight, you're all that I want
You're all I have, you're all I need
You will be shining on me
Like a midnight sun, you're the only one who can set me free

We need to find the way to live
There's more to take, there's more to give
We tried so hard, we tried to so hard
This time we're all away

I will be coming with you
Tonight, you're all that I want
You're all I have, you're all I need
You will be shining on me
Like a midnight sun, you're the only one who can set me free
Like a midnight sun, you're the only one who can set me free.

Like a midnight sun
Like a midnight sun
Like a midnight sun
