Neil Gaiman is an author who focuses on the urban fantasy genre.
Personal
I've read many of his books and I've loved them all. He has a wonderfully dark sense of humor and his characters are very detailed. The situations he places his characters in are mysterious, and often frightening. I love how his endings don't involve putting everyone on a fluffy cloud, but at the same time, aren't terribly tragic.
