PaintShop Pro is a raster and vector graphics editor for Windows. It was originally developed by Jasc Software and first released in August of 1990, but it was bought by Corel in 2004. It is sold as a more affordable version of Corel Photo-Paint from the the Corel Draw suite. Although, even though you have to purchase the program to use it, buyers are still forced to view ads making the product expensive adware.

Personal

I bought a copy of the 2020 version of the program as part of a Corel bundle, but, shortly after installing it, I discovered that, even though I bought the program, it was still riddled with ads and pop-ups that could not be disabled. I became so frustrated with it, I uninstalled it before too long. Before uninstalling it, I played around a little with the features and didn't find it to be all that different than Corel Photo-Paint, only weaker.

I own the 2020 release of this program.

Review

I didn't use the program long enough to review it properly because it just kept popping up ads all the time. The ads often have a very small button you can click which says it will not show the ad any more, but the program continues to show ads regardless. Even the uninstall process pops up ads! I searched online for a way to disable the ads, but all I found were other people complaining about being unable to remove the ads, and Corel spokespersons lying that the checkbox to stop showing ads would work. I would not recommend this program to anyone, not even to pirate it.
