The PlayStation.

The PlayStation is a fifth generation video game console developed by Sony and first released in Japan on 1994-12-03 and in the USA on 1995-09-09. The console used a 32-bit MIPS R3000A CPU, a custom GPU which supported a maximum resolution of 640x480 at 24-bit color, and a 24-channel 16-bit DAC for audio. The PlayStation was the most successful of the fifth generation consoles, selling more than all others combined, including the Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn.

As most developers were switching over to 3D, my interest in video games declined greatly because of how terrible low-poly-count games look. I never bought a PlayStation, and I didn't own one until after the released of the PlayStation 2 when a friend gave me his since he didn't need it anymore because the PS2 was backward compatible with it. However, even with owning it, I never found any games I was interested in buying. Several of my friends owned PlayStations, but I was never very impressed with any of the games. It was only after some friends finally convinced me to play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night that I found a game I really liked.
