US hard cover, 1st edition.

Racing the Beam: The Atari Video Computer System is an in-depth look at the rise and fall of the first Atari home videogame console, the VCS. Specifically, it focuses on the console's hardware and how game designers got the most out of it by going over some of the most popular games on the system. Not for the casual gamer.

Personal

A co-worker of mine got the audio book version of this book and recommended it to me. Being a big fan of the Atari 2600, I bought a hard cover and read it. I enjoyed it a lot.

Status

I own a first edition hardcover and have read it.

Review

It's been too long since I read this book to write a proper review, but I remember liking it quite a bit. One minor problem with it I've seen is former Atari programmer David Crane said in an interview that the book had a fair amount of inaccuracies.
