Good
- The book contains a lot of first-hand accounts for the various games and companies it describes.
- The author occasionally switches to feminine pronouns when talking about hypothetical people.
Bad
- The author doesn't challenge a quote where a Diablo designer claims to have invented the prefix/suffix system for items, but it was used at least as early as 1991 in Might and Magic III: Isles of Terra.
- The audiobook reader mispronounces a couple words like id Software as "EYE DEE Software."
Ugly
- The book is very disjointed. Rather than present a chronological history of the companies and people it focuses on, the book frequently jumps around between topics and times which makes it very difficult to put things into perspective. It also has a large amount of quotes, which is nice because it lets you know you're getting first-hand accounts, but, the downside is you're frequently jumping between perspectives, styles, and ideas. Add in "side quests" which would repeat previous information, and I found it difficult to keep focused.
