Technos's logo.

Technos Japan Corp., known in Japan as (株式会社テクノスジャパン [Kabushiki Kaisha Tekunosu Japan], "Stock Company Technos Japan") was a Japanese video game developer, best known for the Double Dragon and Kunio-kun franchises. The company was founded in 1981 by three former Data East employees mostly developing beat 'em ups and fighting video games, several of which were published by their former employers, Data East. Though the company had several hits in the 8-bit market, the beat-em-up genre lost popularity in the 16-bit era, and the company closed in 1996, selling its rights to Million. Million later sold them to Atlus, and, as of June 2015, they were purchased by Arc System Works. During its span, the company released about 70 games.

As a developer, the brand of Technos was always out-shined by their publishers, so I never really even knew the company was behind several of my favorite games growing up. I don't think it was until we got River City Ransom that I even knew Technos created Double Dragon. It wasn't until the early 2000s, after learning about NES emulators, that I discovered how many games Technos released for the NES including several from the Kunio-kun games that were never localized to the USA. It's kind of a shame, because I would have loved to play them in the 90s, but I'm not that interested in the genre anymore.

These are the games Technos worked on that are important to me. For all Technos games, see the categories for games developed or published.

These are people who worked at Technos whose work I appreciate.
