The Company of Myself is a puzzle-platformer developed and published by 2DArray as a browser game on 2009-11-21. The game was programmed in Flash. It is the first game in The Company of Myself series.

In the game, you control a character who must reach a goal in each level by jumping across platforms. The game's gimmick is that you can restart the level and have your previous attempts function as shadow characters which you can use as platforms and perform actions while your current character tries to reach the end.

While looking for a new short simple game, I came across this one while searching through the "story-based" tag in Flashpoint. After verifying that it wasn't too long, I played it through to the end.

Good

  • I like mechanic of using shadow characters. While this was by no mans the first game to do something like this, it was still a nice implementation.
  • The background music, though not earth-shattering, fits the game's theme.

Bad

  • The game doesn't fully explore its mechanics. Several levels are just repeats of previous ones and a lot more could have been done with the engine.
  • The graphics are quite amateur and detract from the game.
  • I found the game to be both too easy and too short.

Ugly

  • The game begins to lag pretty bad as you reach a dozen or so shadows. Far fewer than what you would expect would create problems.
