Review

Overall:

Rating-4.svg

Good

  • The character design is pretty good. Link and Maple, in particular, look great.
  • I usually don't like chibi style in manga, but, because the game is so silly to begin with, it works.

Bad

  • Overall, I just didn't find the story that interesting and it's a bit messy.
  • Because it's pretty short, the manga leaves out the majority of the game's content.
    • The Maku Tree and seeds only appear in a few pages, and the changing seasons are a minor plot point.
    • The Subrosians and Subrosa are only briefly shown.
    • Most of the dungeons are missing and almost all of the games monsters and bosses appear only in the background near the end.
    • North Horon, Dimitri, the Goron, Vasu, and all of the quests are missing entirely.
  • What content is left is largely different from the game. There are several dozen pages used to create a completely new backstory and Link is given a chicken sidekick.
  • Ricky is a male kangaroo, so why does he have a pouch? Also, why does it have a zipper?

Ugly

  • I'm sick of Link rescuing damsels in distress. Also, Maple, the mischievous witch, is afraid of bugs? I don't think so.
