The Savage Empire, also known by its full title, Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire, is a role-playing video game developed and published by Origin Systems and released for MS-DOS in 1990 and later ported to other platforms. It is the first game in the Ultima: Worlds of Adventure series. It uses a modified version of the Ultima VI Engine.
The story revolves around the Avatar in a lost valley occupied by dinosaurs and prehistoric tribes, like in Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World and similar books.

Being a big fan of the Ultima series, I was interested in this game, but I didn't find the game play enjoyable enough to play it for long.
Review
I have never played this game for more than a couple minutes and haven't heard many positive reviews about it.

Like most Origin titles, the game's manual was very well-made, and the game came with a detailed map.

Strong female character? | Fail | Aiela, despite being a party member and strong warrior, is a damsel in distress and reward who fawns over the player. |
---|---|---|
Bechdel test? | Fail | I don't think women ever talk about anything other then men, and you can't play as a female character. |
Strong person of color character? | Pass | Most of the characters are indigenous tribal people. |
Queer character? | Fail | There are no queer characters. |
