The Lament for Icarus
The Lament For Icarus is an oil painting in the Pre-Raphaelite style by Herbert James Draper, finished in 1898. The painting depicts the legendary Greek hero, Icarus, after his tragic death from foolishly flying too close to the sun with his wax wings and dying in the sea. In the painting, nymphs have pulled his corpse out of the water and are examining it.
Personal
The gigantic wings in this painting are really phenomenal, and the dark tips with the white underside really draw the eye toward Icarus. The color choice over all, is exquisite, and, if you're into women, the nude nymphs are also enjoyable to look at!
