Microsoft Card Games (universe)

Microsoft's Solitaire.

Over the years, Microsoft published several card games for the Windows operating system. Most were video game adaptions of various forms of solitaire, but a handful were multiplayer games. Until 2007, most of the titles were side projects written by Microsoft's developers. These games had the quality you would expect from a side project written by someone without game development experience. It wasn't until the release of Windows Vista that Microsoft hired a third-party developer to remake several of their games with a common style. Then, for Windows 8 the games were entirely remade again (with the older versions deleted in the upgrade process).
